    Greetings Everyone,

I have just completed the interior fan speed resister replacement to my 05' tacoma.

The A/C worked before the replacement. The truck had been sitting for about a week the last time the A/C worked, before the replacement. Did the work today and no A/C. I don't hear the compressor kick on either. Checked the fuse under the hood and that was intact. I also tried the spare fuse they provide just in case. Lights on the buttons work as well.

Any help would be great. Thanks in advance!!

Why did you replace the resistor of everything was working fine? Best to tackle this situation one step at a time.
Check for power at the blower motor with the ac on its highest setting. Also check for ground. If nothing then suspect a bad resistor. If you have power and ground it's a bad blower motor.

My bad! The fan only worked on High, that's why I did the replacement. Sorry for the confusion.

    Also the check engine light is now on. Plugged the reader in and got the following;

PO455, evaporative emission leak, incorrect purge flow. I'm going to have to look that up for further action.

    Any comments welcome!

If the blower only worked on high and now you got nothing at all. I would suspect a bad resistor but do your due diligence and check for power first.

Fan works on all speeds now. No A/C after the resister fix.

Which fuse is the clutch fuse? The A/C fuse under the hood was fine. Thanx

No of my 10, 15, 20 or 25 amp fuses are bad. Probably not enough coolant in the system. Thanks for the help!!

    What? Coolant or freon?

I don't think we use freon any more, so just plain coolant covers it for me.

Your ac system uses freon or refrigerant. Your engine cooling system uses coolant or antifreeze. Still 2 completely different things

the confusing of terms in this thread hurts my brain...

blower motors and a/c not working are different things. freon and coolant are different things (like bebop said)

the refrigerant (aka freon) in your truck is R134a. just an fyi don't call it coolant or people in auto shops will laugh at you. As for you problem, check the fuse first of course, if that's good then check the magnetic clutch relay. if thats getting triggered properly and has power, then check power and ground at the clutch connector.

I understand that. Since the thread talks about A/C issues, one would assume if I use the term 'coolant' it refers to the A/C system.

The term coolant refers to antifreeze. If you went into an auto parts store and asked for coolant, they would hand you a gallon of antifreeze. Do yourself a favor and get your ac system looked at by a professional. An ac system is not meant to be messed with by your average joe

Did you damage the evaporator while under the dash? Does the condenser in the front have a leak? Is the pressure switch located on the evaporator plugged in?
Lots of questions here need to be answered before we can move forward.

Done all of the checks, already taking it to my mechanic to check the system, who BTW, said we need to check the coolant pressure in the system. I understand its confusing, can we move on please and continue with the good advice that I greatly appreciate?

    No, I don't think so.

Remember, this thread just became a record. Anyone that does a search may come upon this thread. We want people know the correct terms and try to limit information that will only confuse newer people.

I am glad you are taking the truck to a pro, I was getting the impression that you need to work on your skills when it comes or wrenching on vehicles.

It may have annoyed you that you were corrected and could not get a good answer, but it is part of learning how these sites work.

Please feel free to ask questions at any time, just include that you are in the learning phase, but are a good listener.

Welcome to the show. This really is a great site, just need to know how to work it.
