Okay folks, I installed a new head unit and subwoofer to my truck (2014 4wd base, standard cab, 107000 mi). I removed the hvac control and set it aside then removed the radio and dash section with vents.. During the radio installation no wires were cut or tampered with, I used a converter harness so it was all plug and play. Reassembled dash, plugged in hvac control and popped it back in. The entire time the hvac harness wasn't touched, it just hung out of the way until needed.
Radio and sub worked fine. Blower fan control works fine, the temp control knob has no effect, the vent setting control knob has no effect, it is presently stuck in defrost/floor mode and the compressor is working. A/C and Recirc buttons not functioning. All fuses check fine with meter, swapped heat relay with no change.

I am lost after checking the obvious and easy, also popped out control panel and reseated connector. Is it possible or likely that the control panel went south on me for no reason. I am open to any and all suggestions. TIA

I'll check the fuse again Is there a schematic somewhere that shows what the power should be at the terminals in the plug to the hvac control? thanks

Here's the wiring diagram, the link I posted above has testing for the actuators.

Thanks Dm93. Mystery solved, a harness that didn't get plugged in properly.

Good day. I've recently inherited an 06 tacoma from one of the members on here. All other work done set aside. After installing a new double din unit. I have no heat, no power to the whole system. I never touched the control module it stayed firmly planted in the dash. I've checked the obvious. Started with the blower found it to be nonfunctional after connecting to 12v power. I have a friend in the junkyard business so I got a new to me blower, check that it operated on 12v power which it did. Checked all the related fuses and relays in both fuse panels and all. Found that the heater relay was stuck In the on position replaced still nothing. Texted the resistor for continuity to find it had none, replaced that still nothing. I've lived in shops all my life and am more than educated on diagnostics I'm at a loss. Any suggestions. It's mighty cold driving ti work in the winter with the windows down.

Start with this: If not done yet,I would try again unplugging and reconnecting every one of the connectors: all of them back there a few times (more than once: even the ones that you didn't disturb) This will clean the contacts that until now, likely haven't been disturbed for almost 20 years. Make sure when you re-connect them they click firmly into place. Be gentle: those are old plastics and wires.

I have done that a few times.i had the while bottom of the dash apart tracing wires. I found that the red wire that supplies power tk the unit had corroded so I cleaned it up and reconnected it, also found a similar situation with the green wire for the blower rmthat meets at the interior fuse panel that I also fixed seemed like everything failed at once.

Erika, I'm going to copy and paste the post onto the build thread, and see if any traction can be gained there, or at least keep the chaos contained..

    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/the-scenic-route.535473/page-1

    Might take me a while.

*fixed.. use of force, threats, and superglue.. pulled/ followed the diagnostic manual posted above, removed/inspected each connection, and, today at least, found the hvac control module to be out of spec.. Some bending of the spider actuator behind the fan speed controller restored continuity.. Feel like something got broken during early diagnostics, original problem was fixed by replacing components, and new problem was fixed by persistent tinkering. *

thanks @Dm93 these resources are amazing, and a lot of work to upload, preciate ya!
