Yes but the ER will not turn you away.

    Your health is worth something.

Ha! There's nothing wrong with that. Who among us hasn't made a similar decision?

I don't know but regardless if you don't hit the sensors you don't get deployment

This isn't entirely true. Get a copy of the accident report and notify the auto insurance. Any injury they attribute to the accident should be covered regardless of the time treatment is preformed within reason.

Well let me redact this. It all depends on your state law. Kansas is No fault. Your state may very.

Excellent! Sorry to be a stick in the mud but the symptoms you describe are indicative of a slow intracranial bleed. Kind of alarming.

    Good luck and God bless!

Get an injury lawyer ASAP. Start the case with police and her insurance (unless was your fault and popped in front of her car, but you said you were not moving). Go to ER/hospital NOW to document your injuries before they heal and go away (you will fight against her insurance that wants to make YOU guilty). Worry about medical bills alter.
A neighbor got hit into an accident by the other car and after all bills he still made out with $25000 and a new car. Ask for her phone records (lawyer can do it easy) and if she was on the phone (call or texting) at the time of the accident you win without any contest from her insurance agency.

There is probably a post on here years ago, where I knocked a telephone pole over and had no air bag deployment...that was a 4 runner.

As a guy that looks at and measures collisions for speed... Trust me if she hit you at 50 in a t-bone you would of not started this thread. Even a side impact at 30 can be a lot more serious than you think.

I would take a header any day of the week over a side impact.... I am very glad your'e are ok. You loss consciousness... go to the DR.

    Just an update
I've been checked out by a doctor and I'm going to be fine. Thanks for the advice, concerns & information
The truck was towed away and I won't know how bad the damage is until it's torn apart.(they are trying to repair it)
As far as the speed I was hit at
I was told by the driver herself that she never touched the brakes. Her car hit my truck at an angle and went under the truck destroying the front wheel and almost flipping me over.

First I am very glad you are OK...

I should of not of had a knee jerk reaction. Yes at and angle and a bit of a under-ride will certainly make a difference. Trust me a 90deg 50mph side impact into any door will have devastating injuries... And again I'm glad you are doing good.

How bad did it mess with your A-pillar/firewall hinge area?

    Thank you sir
That area took most of the damage but the door is jammed so it's got to be torn into before I'll know. There's axle noise and I'm sure that shock is blown out. Hood is twisted. Windshield is shattered on the passenger side? My guess is that it will not be repairable
    I'll get better pictures soon

    Glad your okay OP.

My question to any engineering types or safety experts - why would Toyota (or any other manufacturer) not have the airbags deployed in a side impacts like this (taken from post #5). Seems totally retarded unless I'm not understanding something.

Glad to here you are better.

Let the insurance take car of things and see what is needed to get 100% back on your feet and better.

    Good luck.

Turn off the computer and go to the ER now! Suck it up and worry about the $$ later. At the very least go get an xray or MRI. You have have internal bleeding or even worse.

Guys I went today and got checked out. I'm okay. They expect a couple weeks to recover from the head injury. I'm already working around the house and I'm doing better.
