I am happy to report that my new 4cyl access cab SR seems to be running as it should.
The transmission seems to function well. With just over a thousand miles on the clock,
it runs smoother every time I drive it. Best milage so far is just under 27mpg. The power seems adequate. its very tight with no rattles or buzz. Build date May16.IMG_20161130_160015708_HDR.jpg

Nice! 27 mpg is awesome. I thought an average of 20 mpg with 285s was impressive.

    Cool man!
But please realize that these are not the type of postings people here like. They like to hear about problems, not about Tacomas without problems like yours and mine.
Why do people buy a Tacoma to then bitch about it is beyond my understanding. Got to be an age thing or maybe "Daddy" bought their trucks...

I have said this before, its only a select few that have been allowed to continually post nonsense. Its funny. I have seen them post in the 2nd gen about how bad it is here in the 3rd gen section, then they come over here (3rd gen) and THEY are the ones that start the crap.

    Oh the irony...

But back to the topic.. congrats op! Good looking truck!

27 is great! I've got that in 4wd and standard and after about 2k I'm at 23-24.5 and glad for that. First time I checked it was when it was really "new" and only squeezed 17, sort of bummed me out.

Mine gets 27 as long as I leave it in auto and not use the manual shifting. In manual I get 23 or 24 mpg. Still not bad though.

The new transmission looks to be a big step up over the tired 4-speed auto Toyota put in 2nd gen 4-cyls.

Wow, 27 is quite impressive! I have the same drivetrain as you (4x2, 4 cyl, auto) and my best average was 23. Wasn't all highway, though.

I've found (at least with my AT tires) that it seems like 65-70 MPH is terminal velocity for mileage, put the truck above that and the mileage drops sharply.

I have had some rattles but they only bug me because the rest of the truck is so damn quiet!

    Reported.

I'm sure there's a COC violation in there somewhere.
