hey so i took my tacoma in to the dealer to get an inspection done cause when i bought my truck, i bought it as soon as it hit their lot (they didnt even have time to check it over before i had my money down) it drives fine (shifts a little slow on cold morning starts) but what really scares me is once they sent the title i find out the dealers have been paying "pass the buck" on my truck, its gone through 3 different dealers in 13 days before i bought it... strange or no??

anyways i set an appointment to get an inspection done at the dealer to see if maybe the truck was popping a code that i could not feel from everyday driving. and was told that if no warning dash lights were on then there were no codes stored in the trucks computer, thus nothing wrong with it?... this is the newest vehicle i've owned and just wanted to make sure Toyota truly does have there shit dialed in that tight.

also is it normal for a used truck to go through 3 different dealers in 13 days? each dealer is a normal used car lot with a website displaying inventory and everything.

    thanks in advance guys.

BUCKLE UP! It makes it harder for Aliens to pull you out of your Truck.
IMO it's fine and enjoy your truck (hopefully)

Dealers buy and sell inventory to each other all the time. I bought mine from one who bought it from another. It happens.

You won't get a warning light for low transmission fluid, or a whole slough of other issues.

I think its true that if there is no warning light there is no code. But no code doesn't mean there is no problem.

Seems strange to move a vehicle around like this; but per above, dealers move stuff around all the time. Brokers are always looking for inventory and making 'trades' to satisfy customers so it's not something to worry about. That's why title's are not finalized until sale, which allows a dealers to document the ownership changes within their businesses without DMV hassles.
That said, one of the 'tricks' is that if there's a CE light, the computer can be tricked by disconnecting the battery, [or some other tricks] to shutoff the CE light. BUT this power loss is noted in the computer memory and the inspector can see it on his readout he will flunk the inspection (in Virginia-yes BTDT).. Once the vehicle is driven a few days, all the computer programmed test sequences will be re-run under various driving conditions, and if there are any stored codes, they'll disappear if resolved or CE will come on again if the fault is still there.
Also the computer will store most recent codes for awhile, even if the CE light is off. Diagnostic should show these codes. If you drive a few weeks and no CE light it's ok. For peace of mind, get a free diagnostic check if offered by a local auto parts shop.
Also, slow shifting/firm shifting on cold is not that unusual but as soon as the gauge shows temp it should be normal shifts. Depending upon miles may want to get the tranny fluid changed.
