I just did the annual cancellation dance with them yesterday. Doing it over their chat is much easier to swallow than doing it over the phone. I'm now good for another year on both my truck and my Honda Goldwing. SXM is really all I listen to on both vehicles.

It has nothing to do with the money, I can afford anything I want. It's about their stupid business model that forces me to go through this insane price "negotiation" every fucking year. Why not just give me the option to log into my account and simply click a button to renew at my current rate or cancel my service. There are just too many other options for listening to music in my truck for me to put up with this stupid hassle.

But I do hope Steve from Omaha has a nice Thanksgiving curry chicken dinner.

Even when I had 3 months of free XM when my truck was new, I didn’t listen much to XM. I prefer to listen to podcasts on my phone. Sirius/XM does do a free preview a couple of times per year (no activation required). They have one coming up Nov 23-Dec 5. I will tune in, but as before will still not listen much.

Can’t help it cause I am jealous lol. I tried your link 2 times and it keeps reverting to the $4.99 a month deal for 12 months when I input my radio ID. I talked with someone on their end about the deal and now they claim it’s only for former subscribers that haven’t used their service in over 5 years and won’t budge. So I guess it will be over 5 plus years before I go back.

Some of this Some of that
If you talk with someone there you can usually get a decent deal. Satellite radio is not exactly thriving with things like Spotify out there

the 8-track line. we all know the rubber belts all dry rotted by now, and fewer repair parts available!

though you've made me start considering installing one just for the bragging rights.

    off to ebay i go...

it's funny, i called them at the end of one of my contracts about 10 years ago (up to that point, i had service with xm, sirius, and siriusxm at different times through their mergers and competitions) told them i just don't use the service anymore and they suffered from the same '10 songs' problem as normal radio had. the guy happily agreed to cancel it right away.

i was expecting the song and dance, and would've payed $5/mo, but they just cancelled it. haven't turned back. just use my phone now. i already pay $15/mo for a cellular data connection that gives me global internet access to every countries music. why would i pay for a pre-selected obtuse service to do it for me?

Here here. SiriusXM solicitations are one of the worst parts of modern vehicle ownership. I’m sure they sell all your data to advertisers and Uncle Sam as well.

Just remember, there are some people who like to have their ass blistered with a belt before sex!

Damned if I can understand why, but I guess it takes all kinds.

They use the same ass clown business model as the cable TV gangsters. Jack up the price after a trial period and make us waste time negotiating with some pimply faced youth at a call center. I loath all these ass hat companies. I use smart phone in truck for navigation and music and stream at home.
Thanks to IPhone any number not in my Contacts can’t ring through…. Bye Bye Sirius, Centurylink and Spectrum.

I had the usual trial when I bought the truck new. Not something I wanted.
I ignored it and I think they made a few spoofed calls and I may have told one of them I did not want it.
    They pretty much went away.
Then I brought my truck in to a dealer for warranty work. The dealer activated my account without asking or telling me.
I started getting emails and phone calls from SiriusXM threatening to send my account to collections if I did not cancel or pay after the activated trial period.
I called them and explained they were assholes and I was told my account would be deactivated since it was activated by the dealer. I am not going back to that dealer.
I now get emails from them every 3 or 4 days for years and they automatically go to their own personal hell spam folder. I save them (and look in occasionally for amusement) in case there is a class action suit in the future.
I've actually gotten hundreds of dollars from a couple of class action suits (TV price fixing and spying related).

The two guys responding to this post which I quoted below you get it. It's not about the money at all and the fact that these trucks cost (an unreasonable) $50,000 and the subscription price ranges anywhere from $5 - $30 / month for satellite radio depending who you waste your time on the phone with, are two separate topics not mutually exclusive to each other. The way Sirius conducts their business is the beef that the majority of people have with these guys. Not the price.

Their business model is old and outdated. People value their time much too much to sit here and play around with some monkey over the phone every few months or so, negotiating prices for an hour just to enjoy some music or talk radio while driving. There are bigger and better services out there like Spotify for example who has a clear cut price across the board for everyone haggle/ hassle free and even custom curates playlists for you on its own so you don't hear the same songs an hour into your drive like you do with SXM.

They’ve been sending me one letter a week even though I bundled it with my 6 other subs after it expired. I think they’re pushing their platinum BS.

I called them earlier today and they refused to give in, basically said because my truck is a '21 it's not eligible for the 3yrs/$99 deal. They kept going back to the $5 a month and how heavily discounted that price already was. They didn't even really seem to care when I ended the conversation without selling me anything.
I gave it one shot, I can't really say their service is worth any more of my time. Satellite radio is one of those things that I used when I had it, but didn't really miss it when it was gone.

I just called for 3/99 deal and they told me the $37/mo I pay for two radios was all they could offer. Then they said $79/yr for each of the two. When I asked why my neighbor pays 3/99 they said it wasnt and offer in her system even though it was online. I asked them to cancel my 12 year subscription and they did. Fuck ‘em!

shits just a game, not even worth the shenanigans.
It's funny how Pandora, Spotify, YouTube, etc etc you can turn on and off from the app immediately, it's like they have to keep you with a good product, not the above booshit.

Why would I want to, when I can avoid wasting any time with the haggling and still spend a similar amount of money on a superior service?

I'm a Slacker subscriber (now liveX.) Stupid name, righteous streaming. Ability to toggle the DJ on and off, or have news headline interruptions. Able to alter quality of bandwidth from "data scrooge" to "audiophile", and whether you want it to play the hits or start pulling obscure cuts. Also able to cache stations to your phone so that you can still stream for days without any kind of service. And... my player isn't tied to one vehicle (or even one device.) The music goes where my phone goes.

I've tried many audio services, but somehow keep coming back to that one.
