My cruise isn't working. I can't even get the cruise light to come on when pushing the switch. I've checked both the brake and clutch switch and they are engaging how they shoulld. Not sure how to test to see of they are working properly though. What else goes wrong with the cruise? What's weird is it turned on for me once abt a week ago but now nothing.

Check the actual unit under the hood. Sometimes the connector gets loose.

On the 2nd gens it's the clockspring is the central plug in spot for the cruise control, airbag and steering wheel controls..
My cruise stopped working on my 2nd gen but it was clockspring that was bad

Try holding the wheel at a 9 o clock position and push the switch to see If it turns on

When you say" still nothing" Could you be more specific about what you did, and how you tested it? You need to use a volt meter and/or a test light to check some things. You can't just look at a clock spring for example and tell if it is bad or not. Do you have a wiring diagram? I would look at one and start with finding out if there is power to the cruise switch first. Then check the power signal return wire to see if you are getting anything back.

    Does your horn work?

A bad clock spring will kill the cruise and horn. Not the airbag as it ride on a different circuit.

I bet your clock spring is bad and needs to be replaced.

had a 96 cherokee, no cruise not even a light. Found some plastic vaccum hoses near the battery that got corroded and cracked and split. Had no clue what these lines did but I wrapped them in electrical tape and put a rubber hose to connect them. Once I did that everything worked as it should. Not sure if the taco's have that too...haven't looked....but maybe try something like that?

My 2004 Tacoma (auto) had an issue where the cruise control worked fine so long as the headlight switch was off. As soon as the switch was turned to the parking lights or headlights, the cruise cut off like I hit the brakes. The culprit was a tail lamp/stop lamp bulb. One of the filaments sagged and was touching the other filament and arcing over. Replaced that bulb and everything is fine now. Please note that the bulb functioned normally, only on close visual inspection did I see the issue.

Horn doesn't work. Cruise worked again shortly today but then stopped working ): no cruise light at all. Would it come and go like it has with a bad clock spring?

Yes, it could be the issue.
