Its just a generic email. The 4 door TRD offroad is available and its been on their website since last week. My local dealer has 3 on the way which are due to be in by mid October.

The Toyota website is a bit vague on its description of the off road but if you look at price its the one listed for $40445 and its the standard package off road. Another 10k or so and you can get the pro.

The 2017 Tacoma does come in a DCSB OR 6AT in Canada. You can build it on Toyota Canada's web site....

I see a Off road package for the access cab,I don't think standard package is a off road package under the double cab

It's confusing, even when you compare models it doesn't list the DCSB as having the skid plates that the AC has, all dealerships I've spoken too say the OR will be available for 2017 in a DCSB configuration.

The Canadian website can be improved a lot.

It sure can, it sucks. Even my sales guy had problems finding the DCSB OR on Toyota.ca

I'm just amazed that they even responded. Most companies seem to pretend that their customers don't exist.

Yes, and no, depending on various factors specific to the vehicle. I've imported a bike from the US and that made sense at the time.

First, with the Canadian dollar being as low as it is, you're paying a ~30% currency conversion penalty just for buying in the US. That will bring the vehicle's price roughly in-line with local Canadian pricing. Then you have to pay the usual tax, and then you have to pay duty since the vehicle was not made in NAFTA. That's the real bugger here which will likely make this option not cost-effective.

Beyond that, there's a simple $200 RIV fee, and then you have to make sure the vehicle meets Canadian safety standards, so you'll have to show that the speedo can display speed in kilometres per hours (luckily our trucks have a digital speedo capable of this, so no need to swap clusters), and that the truck has always-on running lights (likely can be programmed at the dealer for a few hundred bucks). Then you get the truck inspected, insured and you're good to go.
