I don't like DRLs and don't use them. Until I got my 2019 Tacoma, I never had a car that had them and that suited me fine.

Unlike some other cars with DRLs, Toyota at least allow me to turn them off.

For some reason, the other day, I decided to turn them on. Mostly just to see if they work. They didn't. Weird.

I read page 213 in the manual and made sure I was doing everything right.

I thought that maybe I or the remote start installer had done something and blown a fuse or knocked a relay loose.

Nope, but I found a slot in the big fuse box under the hood marked DRL, but it was empty. So, I popped a 10A fuse in and tried again. No luck.

I put it on the list of things to ask the service writer at the dealership look at next time I was there.

Then, I had a thought. Before it died of lonliness, I drilled down in the Settings menu until I got to Vehicle Customization and Lights.

There's a setting there for DRLs and the check box was empty. I checked that box, started the truck and the DRLs were lit.

I looked in both the owners manual and the Entune manual and there is not a mention of that setting. At least not that I can find.

I can now go back to ignoring the DRL.

Remove the fuse you placed in the DRL fuse spot, it's for vehicles with LED DRL's...:burp:

I did that when it didn't fix the "problem."

Don't know if your Taco is dark colored, but I wish all dark colored vehicles ran DRLs. Really hard to make out in lots of situations.

I find it amusing that so many people feel so self conscious about running DRLs. Not bashing, it's just that I don't find DRLs make you look cool or uncool. They're just there.

And if I happen to be driving under the shadow of a tree and someone on a cross street sees my DRLs before pulling out, that's reason enough for me to run them.

Not all of them. As far as I know, only the TRD models come with them.

so we can go into settings and disable the DRL but we have to go to the dealer to adjust the momentary turn signals from the 3 blinks, default, to 6 blinks . go figure.

I’m all for anything that can make vehicles more visible. Having rode motorcycles for 16 years, I know the importance of an always on headlight. The downside is all the people you see driving at night with no tail lights because they don’t know their DRLs aren’t headlights o_O

I'm sort of on the fence about them. In the city I leave them off, when I'm on the highway, up in the mountains or off-road I turn them on. I also ride MC's and like being more visible when I'm out riding. My tow rig is an '04 Silverado, on that truck it has separate small lamps (I think their like an 1156 or something in that range) next to the turn signals which normally are clear. Because I'm weird I replaced the clear lamps with orange ones so it gives the truck more of an 'evil' look LOL

The little brain in the truck makes all kinds of decisions regarding them it seems. Every time I think I've figured out what makes them shut off I get proved wrong. I guess I could read the manual, but thats no fun! I leave them on, however I seem to be in the minority around here. For me I prefer the added visibility. No clue if it helps but it can't hurt. I used to hike with a guy who insisted on wearing bear bells on his pack, drove me nuts. Every time I asked if he really thought it was necessary he would reply "well we haven't been attacked by a bear have we?!" I guess I justify the DRLs with the same logic.

If nothing else has worked, if you have your eBrake on they will not turn on... found this out after thinking I screwed something up putting in raptor lights.

Hot damn, this post just saved me a massive headache. I couldn't figure out why my raptor lights were on but not my DRLs just now, and started searching threads for different fuses to try.

Next beer's on me next time you're in Houston!

I can imagine you went through the same thing I did and thought process lol.
If I’m ever there I’ll take you up on it. Glad you found a simple answer.
