No front airbag disable on 2017 Tacoma?

I've been reading around, and it seems like the 2nd gen Tacomas had a passenger airbag disable switch, but the 3rd gen do not? Is that correct?

I am getting a 2017 access cab, and it comes with LATCH anchor points in the front passenger seat, but I don't get what the point of that would be if I can't disable the airbag. I understand that under normal operating conditions it senses the weight of the occupant, but this seems sketchy for a kid in a car or booster seat that might be holding things or moving around or with the truck going over uneven terrain. I'd really like to be able to turn it off when the kid is up front, is that not possible (other than pulling a fuse which I don't want to have to do).

    Thanks.

    It is disabled by weight.

I don't recall seeing LATCH attachments in the front of my AC. They are there in the rear. I have installed a full size forward facing seat and boosters with no problem. Almost no loss of room for the passenger with the full size. I have no clue about the infant seats. Test fitting is key and something that we did in the early 2000s when our were coming along.

The passenger airbag switch is a weight based sensor in the seat bottom. I believe it triggers at about 80lb?

No, there is no manual switch to turn them off that I know of. Pretty sure the passenger side air bag is automatically disabled unless there is someone sitting in it. There must be a pressure sensor switch in the seat that tells it if someone is there.

The 1st gens had a key operated switch for the passenger airbag, but that’s probably a legal issue now. It’s a weight sensor now. Same with the seatbelt chime. Once when I had my 2015, I was going to the camp for a week and had four 24 packs of beer on the passenger seat because it was the only place I had room. As soon as I started driving the passenger seatbelt chime started going off. I couldn’t even reach the buckle on that side so I had to pull over, open the passenger side door and fasten the seatbelt around my beer. Hahaha.
