Driving to work. Got to a stop light and truck just turned off. Tried starting it but wont turn over at all. Luckly there was a shop near by, troubleshoot it and was found to be a bad fuel regulator. I had fuel coming up to the hose but not out of the fuel regulator. So i changed the fuel regulator and still no fuel. So i thought i have gotten a bad part. Replaced the part that was new with another new part and installed on fuel hose where i am getting fuel out of and still no fuel out of the regulator when i crank it over. Any thoughts of what else it might be. Maybe a weak fuel pump. But we check the fuel pump pressure and it was around 60 psi. We did get spark to the plugs and i do hear the pump prime itself when I turn the key and i did check all the fuses and they are all good.

So you’re saying that if you disconnect the fuel line going into the fuel rail and turn over the engine, fuel will shoot out?

    60 psi?
The pressure should be no more than 42 psi.
The Fuel Damper is before the regulator. It’s possible it may be bad.
But I haven’t heard of one failing often.

Yes, and the fuel pressure psi is listed as the same for both engines.

Fuel hose no 2 has fuel coming out and that's the port i tested from and fuel does come out from here. But i install that fuel hose no.2 onto the fuel regulator and crank it and get no fuel out of the exit port of the regulator and this is with me not installing it back onto the injector rails and just cranking to see if I get fuel up to that point

Is the vacuum line connected to the regulator when you are checking pressure?

If you dead head the pump the pressure will read in the 60's range. To check fuel pressure you should tee into the gas line.

I don't think you are looking at the regulator correctly. The only time fuel should be going past the regulator is when it is bypassing.

    Basic fuel pressure regulator circuit:

Install a Tee between the Fuel Hose and the Pulse Damper Assy and connect the gauge there to read fuel pressure.

Fuel hose # 2 goes back to the tank from the rail downstream of the regulator.

    This is the loop:

Fuel Tank >> Pump >> Fuel Hose >> Pulse Damper >> Rail >> Injectors >> Regulator >> Fuel Tank.

Really I thought it went tank pump hose 2 to regulator rail damper hose 1 back to tank...

    It would be working backwards.
You would have very little fuel pressure that way.

    Here is a better explanation.

What color is the fuel hose no. 2 green or yellow? Those hoses have tabs on it and are color coded. Just making sure they are going to the right location.
