The transportation requirements for ethanol also kills the feasibility of ethanol.

I say that fuel cells are the wave of the future.

Thats cause you're a fool! the wave of the future will be a genetically engineered hybrid of a bat, a bald eagle, and pterodactyl dna. we'll ride our "dineaglats" (word stems from a combo of dinosaurs, eagles, and bats) everywhere and they will feed on the poor and the homeless. and we can ride them at night since they have the bat sonar thingy. so you see, science will negate our need for untrustworthy airlines, as well as solve our homeless people problem while solving our energy crisis. Lets just hope by the time the "dineaglats" start to overpopulate and eat random people we can engineer something bigger and meaner to eat the dineaglats. i have the whole thing planned out....... Look out Nobel Peace prize, here comes ND!

"Heavy Metal" was (is?) an R rated magazine/comic -- sort of acid-inspired sci-fi/fantasy with lots of naked chicks and blood. In the early 80's they made a feature length animated movie by the same name with a sound track of all the cool heavy metal bands of the time.

just to let you know ethonol can be produced from just about any carbon rich organic as far as removing trees, trees are re-newable they can always grow back take for granted they do convert CO2 but my main point was that instead of pumping massive amounts of hydocarbons into the air (which have been proven to cause global warming) we could be using items such as corn, leaves, stalks,F'n weeds to produce a clean burning fuel souce fo cheap here in America so yeah corn is just really a key steping stone to producing a more effecient etenol

plus shine usually IMO taste horrible

In my opinion, it is way to early to decide a winner in the race to find alternative energy sources. The price of oil still hasn't reached that point where it is just too expensive for people to buy. It's simple economics once something is just too expensive to buy we begin to look elsewhere. Where hydrogen looks great on paper with having Water as the emissions, you still end up dupping just as much if not more emissions into the air just by refining it. Even though hydrogen is one of the most abundant elements in the universe, it doesn't come alone. Ethanol still has its flaws as well. It doesn't have as much energy as a gallon of gas so you end up having to pay more for the same amount of energy, and the government is getting their hands in the funding and research which means that strings are going to be attached. Solar energy just doesn't harvest enough of the suns energy to convert into mechanical energy that cars need. I could defenantly see a combination of all technologies somehow. Battery and Engine technology are continuing to improve daily, but until we see the price of oil shoot to a price where middle class just can't afford it anymore, I doubt we will see any push to really see any alternative fuels take off. That is my tidbit. You can agree or disagree or just make up your own genetic creation like nd. :D

*EDIT* I forgot to mention bio-diesel. Imagine if we were able to get every mom and pop resturant, fast food chain, on board with suppling their used grease to biodiesel refineries. Not only would that be a source of income for them but it would help ease the burden of planting soy. There are many possibilities, not just one is going to be the cure all miracle fuel. In my opinion i think we need to invest in Fusion technology so that we all can have our own Mr. Fusions.

i'm gonna have to respectfully disagree (notice i said respectfully, so this is not a flame and i dont expect to get flamed back).

although i agree that ethonal can be produced from most carbon objects (even tires and other inorganic objects. side note: some dude invented a machine that can produce usuable fuel from just about anything using a microwave device thing, i read it in popular science, it was really cool) using food products is a bad idea. the price of food is already going up as a result of a greater expense in shipping such items, so using food for anything but eating, digesting and pooping is a massive waste of resources. What i mainly disagree with is the statement of "proven global warming". i hate getting on this soap box because for some its a very touchy subject. global warming was never proven, just a theory. and 10 years ago it was global warming, but now the weather is not following the trend they said it would so they are calling it global climate change. the fact is, glaciers are not melting at an alarming rate. one of these days i'm going to start a thread that actually contains all the papers and data to back up what i'm saying, but i dont have that in front of me right now. 94% of the worlds glaciers are located at the poles. only 2% of the shelfs of that original 94 are actually melting. the other the rest of the glaciers around the world are starting to melt, but not because of global warming. these glaciers are mobile. they move across the land at inches per year. that creates friction, which melts them. they are also moving towards lower lying areas, which are warmer, therefore melting them. Glaciers are suppose to melt, thats what they do. maintaining an environment in any part of the world is impossible. state parks are a perfect example. yellowstone national park was meant to be preserved. when this land was set aside as a park, the government outlawed hunting on it. this lang had previouslly been hunted. the result was a drastic change in the flora and wildlife that had originally lived there. the predator/prey balance as disrupted. trapping was also outlawed, which meant more beavers, which meant more dams which meant an actual landscape change. the redwood forest is another prime example. My point is, the world changes. its been doing it for billions of years. it takes an incredible amount of arrogance for mankind to believe that we can single handedly destroy an entire planet (we could with nukes but thats the only way). Climate has always changed and always will. Although i will agree that humans do put out a lot of polutants, that are harmful to humans and wildlife. look Bejing, its almost unlivable. we do need to cut down on emissions and pollution, but not for the sake of mother earth. we do need to get away from fossil fuels, but more for the sake of our country and the economy, not for glaciers. Once again, this post was not meant as an attack. so i dont want to hear a bunch of insulting hate filled replies. my opinion is based on material i have read and researched. Global warming is a topic that i have looked into quite a bit. taht is all for now, continue with truck talk :)

i agree solar energy is not enough for cars, but that technology is amazing for homes. solar panels have come a long way since the 80's. if you are young, solar panels are a great investment. they are expensive but they will pay for them after 10 or 15 years, after that you get free energy.

    I was indeed.
In E&E I caught the flat of a rifle butt up alongside my head.
    That rang my bell.
I was at the VA and was asked if I had ever been abused. When I stoped laughing I said if I`m not exchanging wounds with the enemey the instructers are beating me up.
What is the definition of abuse?
