All that's visible with AC buttons out is the radio wires.
    BUT!
I stuck my hand in towards back of radio from left of glove box, just for kicks, and...
felt an obviously broken wire, and... it's white/black!
    YEE HAW!!!
Seems like the one from combo switch, right where it goes into J4 at 6(a) in pic. Can't really see where it ends.
Gonna have to take the radio out, but hey I wanted a new radio anyway, so...

Thanks for all the help guys, I learned a lot!
I'll post a pic of my blazing headlights when they're fixed.

Now, what's the whining noise the transmission *sometimes* makes for 5 minutes when cold? Sounds up front, back of engine-ish,
Torque converter is going bad, or low fluid?

When I said obviously broken, I meant obviously CHEWED BY VARMINT.
How that squirrel fit in there and why to chew that single wire? We will never know.

    Beats me.
Never seen a squirrel get stuck inside a vehicle.
Only time one ever gave me a problem was on my dads old Ford Ranger.
They chewed the insulation off one of the battery terminals. Nothing major....

I've had more problems with skunks and racoon.
They get in the garage and tear into the trash.

So here's the problem! Can I connect a new wire to this blurry one in front and run the new one to a ground some/anywhere?
Pretty sure the white/black wire is the wire between the headlight switch and J4 junction box.
Any idea what gauge is correct?
It would be a lot easier than trying to unclip J4 or taking the dashboard apart.

I don't see why you couldn't do that.
18Ga would probably be fine, should be close to what the factory size is.
