I have a 97 tacoma with a 2.7l in it.I am having a problem getting heat in the cab.I replaced the thermostat today and coolant levels are good but the radiator on the drivers side stays cool unless you put a piece of card board in front of the radiator.also i get a whiff of antifreeze from time to time.does anybody have any suggestions. thanks

run system with rad cap off for a while with heater on after installing thermostat, to bleed all the air out. Feel the temperature of your heater hoses near the firewall when engine warmed up to normal operating temperature. If both fairly hot, you should get heat, if one hot, one quite a bit cooler, you have a flow problem. That could be a valve not opening, core plugged, weak water pump, for examples. if all that checks out good, then I'd be checking my blend/air door for movement

like 2531 said run it without the rad cap and turn on the heat full blast sometimes that will push some air pockets out of it. you can also burp the system by lifting the front of the truck up and doing the same thing. hope this helps

i tried running it till normal operating temp with the radiator cap off but didnt get any air pockets to come out.on my heater core hoses one of them was quiet a bit cooler than the other so i took my hoses off and ran water through my heater core and there was some brown and milky stuff came out so i will find out tomm if that worked.also how much pressure should the water pump have.to me it seems weak because when you squeeze the radiator hoses and rev the motor it doesnt seem to have a hole lot of pressure. thanks for the tips though

What temp of tstat did you put in?? That will determine how good your heat is... Mine is hotter than hell on full blast!
