So with that valve open now you can tell hot coolant is circulating to the heater core(the hoses going into the firewall)? If you have hot coolant going into the heater core and out of the heater core then air blowing should be hot. If heater core is plugged up, hose going is hot but hose coming out isn’t hot, meaning no coolant circulating through core, you know that's part of the problem and needs to be addressed to be able to heat the air being blown

Yes both hoses are hot with the valve open but still no hot air blowing into the cab

Gonna take some digging into and troubleshooting. Air is blowing though right? It's just cold air?

You're going to have to take a close look at the servo motor. While it's possible your cable is seized inside the sheathing it is way more likely you need a new servo motor. When diagnosing mine I removed the cable from the arm on the servo motor, left the electronic connector connected an pulled the 3 screws holding the servo in place (phillips head screwdriver and a mirror - stubby phillips head helps a lot on the screw in the back) . Then while holding the unit in my hand turned the dial from cold to hot and the arm did not move. At this point you can try to move the cable in the sheathing - mine moved back and forth easily by hand so I knew it wasn't seized. But the arm not moving also meant the servo was kaput.

I'm not an expert but I believe the servo motor does 2 things - the arm moves opening the valve on the firewall letting hot coolant into the heater core. It also directs the airflow through the heater core. So if it's not working then even though you opened the valve by hand the blend door still has not moved to direct the air through the heater core. Therefore no heat. Do a search on the autozone website for "blend door actuator" and put your vehicle info in. Can probably find one on the shelf at a store near you and I believe they're about $40.

This is not "throwing parts at it". If your cable isn't seized in the sheathing and turning your dial from hot to cold doesn't move the cable then you need one of these anyway. You can also test it per the FSM procedure.

Well I pulled the motor and checked it out, it does operate like it should but everything that the motor operates is very sticky, so I worked it all a bit and got the truck to blow heat. I need to use some wd40 or something to lube it all up.

That's great to hear man! You'll likely want to use a silicone based lubricant on that stuff that's gummed up. Wd40, the silicone version is what you want.
Or even the reg Wd40 crap is better than nothing. So that will take care of your issue then? When I first got my taco, that blend valve there on the firewall was stuck also. On the early tacos, 95 to 2000 the cable that turns that blend valve is adjusted directly by the lever manually. You noticed on yours the electric motor is what moves that cable. More importantly on those 01-04s is that everything moves freely like it should so that little motor can move what it needs to without overworking.

Yes I will need to lubricate everything and it should work like new. What would be a good way to lubricate the cable? It is pretty stiff as well. But yes that makes sense. I liked the older style of everything on the 95 less things to fail.

I didn't do it but if I had found my cable difficult to move my plan was to squirt some lube on the cable in the engine bay trying to force some into the sheathing as well and then turn the knob cold-hot-cold-hot repeatedly. Repeat this many times and hope gravity does it's thing pulling the lube down the length of the cable. Using a spray can of lube with the little cocktail straw to pin-point it.

Is it time to consider being a winter Texan? You wont need the heat down here during the colder parts of our winter.

It's very very tempting this time of year... I keep thinking to myself, I have a finite amount of winters left, why do I keep spending them in this cold of a place!? :D

Oh dude I know, I'm about 2 years from being a resident of the southwest, Arizona, new Mexico area. I'm so fed up with winter its ridiculous. Actually really irritated about it today, 20 degrees snowing with 15mph winds.

I would hate it less if I could maintain my own body heat, I get cold no matter what I'm wearing. And I work outside alot.
