Servco Toyota Windward installed New Michelin at no cost. Hawaii Time, All Good
    True to their word......:mudding:

2018 Tacoma Limited 4x4 purchased New from this Dealership.
10K Service scheduled - Found That The Rear Michelin LTX M/S2 Tire Had a Nail in the sidewall and could not be repaired. Advisor estimated New tire at $274.00, I approved. My experience driving Trucks has always been 4 tires make for a better ride. Just saying. Picked up my truck the next morning and with my astute observation skills I discovered 2 weeks later ( need to work on that skill ) My service advisor approved the installation of a Toyo Brand Tire in lieu of the original Michelin Brand to match the other three.
The response I received when I questioned Him, still has me wondering,
Would Anyone Authorise A Different Brand Tire To Be Installed On Their New Toyota Tacoma??????????
I have demanded a new Michelin be ordered and Installed ASAP. They have stated the tire is in transit. Well, I'm still waiting for my Michelin, THREE WEEKS & Counting........

Call the Mother ship, they should expedite this fairly quick. The OEM Michelins probably weren't in stock at the dealership. The advisor got you rolling with a correct size tire. Get the matching Michelin, stay on them 'til you do.

I am surprised the dealer did not suggest to swap out the spare (matching Michelin) from your truck and put the toyo as the spare.

So, putting a tire on your truck that doesn't match the brand of other tires equals "incompetence"?

(Is it just me or does it seem that people get outraged for the most ridiculous reasons these days)

if the tire was not in stock and had to be ordered, yes, he got you rolling asap. And yes, tires can be backordered for that long. And if the correct tire is on it's way to replace to temporary one, I'm confused as to what's the issue. Would you of rather them held your truck for 3 weeks till the tire arrived?

Yep, incompetent or a mistake on his part, if he could not match the tire he should have given you the option/let you know he didn't have it and given you the option to wait, or source the tire elsewhere, etc. I would be upset as well. To me that is no different than not informing you that they are going to use a non OEM part to make a repair.

I would have avoided the whole situation by simply declining the replacement at the dealership and driving over to Discount Tire......

I feel the same on this also , $274 for 1 Toyo tire is way too much.

So you and them originally agreed that the replacement tire would be Michelin LTX M/S2, but they installed the Toyo because they didn't have the Michelin in stock for you and didn't tell you about it? Please correct my understanding if I'm wrong here.

    Let's assume I understood correctly.

So what's gonna happen when that Michelin tire get here? Are they going to swap out the Toyo and put the Michelin on for free?

I would have flipped when I was handed a bill of $274 for a single tire!

You let Servco install tires on your truck? That’s where you went wrong. They’ll charge for rotating anything other than stock size, too.

If you didn’t order that specific tire, you’re likely SOL.

I wouldn’t spend $275 on a single god damn tire for it to match. Its really not that important. Stock tires are shit tires that don’t last.

I would not go to a dealer for new tires.
Id probably buy a new set and sell the old set. Because stock tires do suck, might as well use that as an excuse for a new set.

But $275 just so the tire matches... uh no.

Small claims court, really? Jesus christ what is this forum coming to?

It should've been disclosed when he was giving you the estimate, but it's not the end of the world.

Wait for the new matching tire and be done with it. Do some yoga too while you're at it.

Servco (the dealer on Oahu) gives you an authorization for work invoice that you have to sign before they do anything. I’m betting it’s listed on there that he was getting a Toyo AT2, because that’s the main tire they carry on island.

Small claims would laugh him out over a $250 dispute, and the CC isn’t going to deny it because he signed off on the services.

Yea. Shouldn’t the tire be covered under the tire manufacturers warranty? There is usually a pamphlet in with your warranty book bundle with that information.

Just to clear things up here, the Service Advisor didn't change your tire. All he did was tell the tire tech you approved a new tire. He probably never even looked at the completed job himself. So the tire guy is the one that screwed up.
Secondly, this is why I always do a walk around of my vehicle after any work from a dealer.
Now, if the matching tire was not in stock they should have let you know, but again, if the tire tech just slapped it on and didn't notify the SA, how was anyone to know?
Next, small claims court will be waste of your time. The result will be that the dealer has to make you whole by putting the matching tire on, which they can only do if they have it in stock.
Stop payment on a CC transaction that you signed for? Tell us how that works out. If you signed the ticket and left the building, then you were satisfied with the job, end of story. Next time do not sign the ticket until you have inspected the work. Would you pay your plumber before he unclogged your drain and you saw it was flowing?
Before getting all bent out of shape, look at the paerwork you signed and see what tire it says. If it says Toyo and you signed it, you got yourself a new Toyo tire for 274 dollars. If it says Michelin then you need to remain calm and in constant contact with the dealer until you get your tire you paid for.

Pro Tip: Anytime you mention Lawyer or court to a dealership, they have the right to cut off all communication with you and refer you and your questions to the law team. Be careful.

Only if he got the tire and wheel protection plan. The manuf. warranty covers defects, and a nail is not a defect.

Did they order the correct tire at the time or only later. If the wheels were in motion at the service time I’d go with it. If not, sounds like they are making good on the order.
