Agreed, especially if you go between this thread and the 2019 Tacoma Truck Tunnel thread.

Why would warranty from the manufacturer cover road hazard? Not a defect in the tire if you run over something...

Manufacturer warranty will typically only cover rapid tread wear or defect in the actual manufacture of the part

Many people do not understand warranty or think they are entitled to everything for free. I see this everyday, and it is worse with boaters.

When I saw the tunnel thing, I thought OP was asking about the boot that goes between the window of the cab and the window of the topper

Someone said it earlier, but why not just cycle the new (non-matching) tire to the spare? You may never use the spare, and if you do, it will only be temporary (my spare doesn't match my other tires, and it's on a steel rim anyhow!).

Then you can just chalk it up as a learning experience and move on.

I say return the tire, put the spare tire on drive to costco or discount tire, have them order the right tire and then call it good. 2 cents dropped into the wishing well

Add it to the list in the thread . It's a crap shoot as to what a 2019 Tacoma Tunnel is until OP responds

Back when I used to drive beater vehicles I didn't give a crap if I had 4 different tires as long as they were reasonably close in size and had at least 1/16" tread. All I was looking for was to get from point a to b. Now, my Tacoma is my baby and my OCD would not let me live with an odd-ball tire on there. That said, I'd give the dealership a little more time to correct the situation, with the only acceptable resolution being put the proper matching tire on there. If you want to settle for having them put the spare on your good rim and mount that, using the odd tire as a spare I think that would be acceptable with them giving you some sort of discount for the time and trouble. Your choice, but I'd leave any talk about legal actions out and just try to reason with them.

This is good advice. When I traded my 1st gen (04) for my 3rd in March of 17 the spare on the 1st gen was the one put on at the factory. It still has the mold table on most of it. Probably had run less than 1K miles if at all, I think I rolled it 10-12 feet total to clean and air it up. I was second owner of that Taco and only dropped the spare to check pressure and lubricate the hoist mechanism 2 or 3 times.

You cant patch a sidewall of a tire. Even if it's close to the sidewall the tire is toast. I wouldn't put me, my family or others on the road at risk because I patched my sidewall. Sometimes a tire is not repairable and you need to buy a new tire.

I think you guys are being pretty rough on the OP, ya, paying that kind of money for a tire is a bit much!!, so I guess we could all agree he/she is a little naïve when it comes to vehicles, However it would be interesting to know just how many of you are running mismatched tires? (at least he is smart enough as to not to want to do that) jmop

Don’t think the problem is running mismatched tires, it’s most likely that he missed it on the work order that they didn’t have that tire and he signed off on it anyhow.. then said he’d dispute a signed charge or take the dealer to small claims (again, over a signed charge).

That.. and Servco is the only Toyota spot on Oahu. I’d be careful burning that bridge if he’s not moving anytime soon.
