What's up TW. Just want to formally say hello as I'm finally the proud owner of a TRD OR DC SB Tacoma....

I originally had a deal in place at Westchester Toyota in NY, paying off my trade in and ordering the truck (Quicksand) which was loaded for $650 over invoice. Willing to wait on the factory order.

I think the dealer realized they would lose on my trade in and wanted to sell the truck for more (even though I had a TRUECar cert, which I eventually realized was a BS tactic). They stopped taking my phone calls or replying to emails (a total unprofessional joke of a dealership).

On Tuesday I searched locally and an OR DC SB in quicksand popped up as available, came in the day before. Wednesday I went to check it out. Turns out it didn't have the JBL tech which I really wanted, but kind of talked myself out of. The biggest reason I wanted it was the audio, and heated seats. Overall the standard entune audio with nav seems above average. The other assist features where unnecessary and I can take or leave the moonroof.

Because I had the deal in place at Westchester, and the fact that I had no problem waiting on a factory order I had leverage. (Definitely recommend shopping around like I did, they didn't even verify any of the information I gave them)

Took me all day but they ended up paying off my trade in, allegedly $1000 more than it was worth, and I got the truck $350 over invoice.

Very happy with the price and not having to wait.

Like I said I talked myself out of NEEDING the tech package. If I was gonna factory order it would have included the TC, Mat, Step, Preds and a few minor accessories, but I realized I'll just add them on my own.

Not crazy about the chrome rear corners look on the quicksand, will probably change them. Did not get to spend much time with the truck yesterday as it was torrential raining in NYC and I've been at work all day today.

My background, I'm born and raised in NYC, have never really off roaded, even though some of the potholes on the streets here might count. My philosophy was that if I'm getting a truck, I want as few limitations as possible, which is why I chose the OR. I'm a Lieutenant in the FDNY, this is my first truck and first Toyota. My trade in was a 12 Chrysler 200, not my favorite car ever, was convenient 4 years ago, but never enjoyed it. My all time favorite was the previous a MKV VW R32...loved that car, but it always got me in trouble.

The Tacoma community reminds me a lot of the VW community, and I'm happy to be and learn here.

Welcome to TW and enjoy your new truck. Ditto on the potholes qualifying as OR.
