Wasn't dealer trade. I ordered it from Ken Howard through the Navy Federal auto buyers program. $450 over invoice.

I don't know about the huskies. I prefer carpet to rubber mats though. Both the wife and I like taking the shoes off on long road trips. Rubber would just feel like...rubber.

Thanks for all your great advice.

I ordered the weather mats. Truck was delivered with carpet mats. They ordered the weather mats and gave me the carpet ones for free. If I lived close to you I'd sell you mine for cheap lol

Toyota's Canada distributor also charges a ton more for the same vehicles, it makes sense they might include a few accessories. Post pictures of your window stickers and you can tell whether the distributor included them or the dealership.

The option packages are also different in Canada. I have the TRD Sport and it has the homelink mirror. In the US that feature only comes with the limited. As far as Toyota is concerned I believe they put floor mats in all the models in Canada. My wifes 2011 highlander had them also standard.

This surprised me as well. Went to pick up my '17 Sport after dealer prepped it and there were no floor mats. I questioned the salesman, he swore they didn't come with them. I didn't believe him, but he could tell I was truly shocked and wasn't going to just let it go. He then disappeared for a few minutes and brought me a set for free, the standard carpet mats that say Tacoma. Paperwork had all been signed hours earlier.

Of course Husky's will go in once winter hits, had them in my 4runner and loved them. It was more the principle l guess ha.

This is why floor mats are such a pain in the a$$. That's $200 out of the dealers pocket. Now multiply that times the 100 times a month it happens and it's costing them $20,000 a month to give away floor mats.

All so a good point, but are they really costing the dealer 200 bucks. And think about how much more money they take in from service visits, some of those repeat customers come from things like this.

True. Dealerships make a shit ton of money! Throwing in floor mats "on the house" is pocket change.

I got winter and summer mats included in the price. But than things are different north of the 49th parallel.

The carpet mats cost is about $100. No idea what a set of huskey's is so I'm guessing $100 also. Nowadays it's mostly warranty work at dealerships, customer don't want to pay for anything because they are on edge about being ripped off (they're not incorrect) so it's not a real fun business. Very profitable if managed extraordinarily well, very unprofitable for "the nice guy" though.

Evidence for either one of those statements?

    Pulezze people.

    Nothing is free.

Whatever you drove out of the dealership with, rest assured you paid for it.

Yeah, it's called the auto industry. Just take a look at your local Toyota dealer. They're not hurting for money. Guess I should have stated it was my opinion not a fact which requires evidence.

I know exactly how much they make after paying the employees and expenses. How much do you think it was?

I wouldn't know the exact amount but I bet the owners were taking in 3 figures a year.

Raw unit margin is one thing. Fixed operating expenses are another.

Don't confuse unit margin (how the consumer thinks) with store net. Net can look slim due to many things that ultimately make real money. Like real estate costs/deductions.

I hear you on that, I was only accounting for the variable expenses, the actual sales grosses minus payouts to employees, minus facility costs. Of course their tax returns would look totally different, and would show a much lower number than what I know they actually made on it.

To be honest if you told them you're not buying the truck without the floor mats they would of threw them in
