Tacoma is stock and staying that way, Pickup is TBA as of now.
I've seen this floating around too, guess the sales of it aren't high enough to justify keeping it. I also recall reading somewhere that Toyota had planned to only have the FJ around a certain number of years. It could have something to do with the new CAFE economy standards as well.

very old news this has been known for over a year. they are still making them just not for the u.s due to new fleet avg fuel economy regulations toyota cant have 4 trucks getting under 20mpg in the u.s. it brings down the avg fuel economy number for the fleet. the fj never had high sale numbers they are a nitch vehicle targeting a certain group. something had to go and taco tundra or 4runner was not going to be the one. this is y toyota created the trd pro lineup to ease the blow to the offroad minded community.

There's an ongoing thread over on FJCruisers counting down the 2014's.
Think there's 549 left. Probably will be just about gone by the end of the year.

This would also explain why Toyota has come out with the TRD Pro package on Tacoma and 4Runner so they still have a couple vehicles in the FJ's place that targets off roaders.

I'd much rather have a TRD Pro 4Runner than an FJ for wheeling, you can see out of it for one thing. The FJ I drove felt like I was in a cave, dark, and crappy visibility. They look cool but that's about it for me. Three windshield wipers might be a nuisance also.

My 65 year old mom drives a 2010 FJ. Before that she drove a Wrangler with a manual tranny. God bless her she is the most amazing woman I know and I love her. Now with that said, I "like" the FJ a lot but..... I do not like driving it. I know that doesn't make a ton of sense. I guess I like what it stands for. A great off-roader, Toyota reliability, THE BEST resale value of any vehicle in north America etc..... I just can not get over those blind spots and for some reason when I drive it more than an hour my shin starts to hurt and I have to take a break. It's just not the most ergonomic vehicle in the world for a 6'1" guy

With that said, I'm bummed to see it go but I'm sure some other time in our lives Toyota will release another FJ.

The FJ is a notorious gas hog. A guy down the street has one and barely drove it when gas was over 4 bucks a gallon.

My '14 is averaging 20.5 mpg right now according to the Ultra Gauge.
On a road trip in Sept., average was over 23 on the highway.

I was contemplating buying a cruiser, but i slowly realized this wasnt a great vehicle for me after reading about the vehicle and test driving one. I still think they are cool and an interesting vehicle. With the online reviews, the overwhelming amount of comments were about the fun factor, fun to drive. I had read about the weight of vehicle and that sorta stood out, but it wasnt until test drove the cruiser till i could realize that weight. I mean the door is heavy, not that thats bad...but w the short test drive, i wasnt feelin the fun to drive aspect, folks were talkin about in reviews. The rearview issues didnt bother me, could see adjusting and getting used to that. The high octane gas was another negative, even though folks were sayin thyr runnin reg online. The reports, opinions online about the high combustion engine were interesting, people sayin the engines getting better over time.
Ultimately it wouldnt have been as functional as a tacoma, for my work and i test drove a taco from craigslist. The tacoma was fun to drive, like my old jeep was from years ago.
It will be interesting to see the cruisers hanging around for years though and young people buying them used, like i bought my old rusted out jeep for 200 hundred dllrs and having fun with them.

I had my 07 FJ for 6 years and loved it - never let me down. Great hunting, fishing, and camping. The wipe down materials inside were fantastic. It rode very well for a truck. It was hardly a "gas hog" - I'd get 22 on the highway empty or loaded to the gills. Visibility was limited, but you'd be surprised how quickly you adapt to it, and soon, it's "what bad visibility?"

It's too bad it required premium fuel, I know lots of guys that used regular, some reported worse gas mileage, some said there was no difference. If the price difference between no lead and premium is large - as it is in my area - upwards of 50 cents a gallon more, it's no fun when gas prices go back up.

IMO - Toyota had two vehicles in the same niche - the 4runner and the FJ - admittedly, the FJ was more hardcore than the 4runner was, but they were competing for your dollars. They toughen up the 4runner and drop the FJ.

If you think of it, Nissan had the same problem with the Xterra and pathfinder (which USED to be a nice SUV). Nissan did exactly the opposite by pushing the pathfinder into a unibody mall crawler SUV category and the Xterra remains their ladder frame off road vehicle.

It's a damn shame about the FJ going away, it is/was a great vehicle.

Yeah they were just getting about my price range w 80k miles, 7,8 yr old vehicles. With the reviews on sites, about being fun to drive and basic suv outlook, i am sure some folks bought the fj cruisers without knowing what a serious 4wd vehicle it is. They are so heavy and well built, that they will be around for a long time and the more serious outdoors people will be buying them, maintaining them and using them.
Also, to me there is a big difference between how a 3k plus lb vehicle and a 5k plus lb vehicle rides and handles, just from driving basic cars over the years. But im sure within a few months, one doesnt even realize its such a heavy ride. Quite amazing how some of these seemingly small/moderate sized suv's are five thousand pounds.
