Tacoma may start every time, but that doesn’t help if you don’t have a frame.

What trim level did you get. I saw a real sharp looking gladiator the other day. Had bigger tires and was blacked out, looked sharp. But gotta say, straight from the factory they look a bit off. Good luck either way

Soooo. You think jeeps, a truck notorious for frame rot, has a frame that doesn’t rust?

No, I’m saying I have a POS Tacoma that’s started every time but doesn’t have a frame I can trust.

After I finished reassembling it on the 'new' frame...

Both Jeeps and Tacomas are subject to serious frame rot.

I’m just extra salty because I paid the dealer to “rust proof” because I was worried about it and the same dealer was the one that effectively black balled my frame from the replacement program. So yeah, my truck starts every time but is rotting away. If my piss poor attempt at FF slows it down, I may end up trying to reinforce some of the worst stops and use it as a backup vehicle.

Just get a frame from junk yard and pay a good local backyard mechanic to swap everything over.... it’s a week long job but better than throwing your truck away!!!

The long and short of it is I pushed in on a soft spot myself and told them what happened and let them inspect the spot. Came back with yup, that’s big enough but frame won’t be replaced because of “outside influence” ie: I pushed through vs it just happening natural. Was annoyed since I pushed through because it was about rusted through, but that was kind of the response I expected. But reached out to Toyota CS get clarification. Then a few months later I found one that happened by itself that I believe would qualify; however, that’s when I find out that no because of the first hole being my fault the frame was disqualified from the program. The CS guy actually used an example of damaging the infotainment screen as a comparison to a frame. So yeah, I’m salty and I was already shopping for another truck so this will definitely impact my purchase decision.

I’ve thought about looking into paying for the replacement myself, see how it goes. Really want to have a backup vehicle.

The spelling error was part of the joke, suggesting that jeep people aren't smart.

I second this. Had a Jeep before I got my Tacoma. I will never go back.

When I got my Taco in 2010 I was looking hard at the Wrangler Rubicons. Glad it didn’t work out because I’m legit over the moon with my Tacoma!

They put mine on a lift and started poking holes in it. Sounds like they could have done the same for yours?

Could have, but didn’t. Hell, they didn’t need to with as rough as it already is and now has a natural hole anyhow. So you read through the threads where dealers will use a ball peen or screwdriver to check, in my case it was my thumb and that DQ me from the program. Told them straight up “yeah, I did it” even put a chalk mark around it so there was no confusion. Now I’m “salty” and went from figuring out which color I wanted my next Tacoma to be to which engine in a Colorado. That hurts saying since I’m not a GM fan.

They got the hammer out for me but used their thumb on my 97 Tacoma. Stay with Toyota but buy from a better dealer.

I had a Colorado and that thing was a fucking lemon.
