Well, I seemed to fix the problem, or just put a bandaid on it! So when I got this truck about a year ago, I’ve noticed crazy gear hunting/shuddering in D around 35-45mph and it seemed to happen most when it was under a slight load (uphill or applying throttle). Never though too much about it because it never happened driving in 4 select. I would only throw in drive when I got up to speed on the freeway.

Read a lot on here and decided to do a drain and fill using a little under 3 quarts of Toyota ATF WS and 10oz of LubeGuard platinum additive.

I did the whole 9, drain & fill, OBD2 jump and got it in to temp check, unscrewed check plug and got it all dialed. Moment of truth came for a test drive and try to see if it would shudder hard under the conditions stated, and much to my surprise I couldn’t replicate the shudder.

The point of all this is that LubeGuard Platinum, along with probably the correct level of ATF seemed to get rid of all my shuddering and lurching from going to park to Drive. I’m a happy camper!

I got the additive at a local Napa, atf was on Amazon $35 cheaper than the dealer.
