To be fair, the fact that the Tundra weighs 1000-1500lbs more, is superior/equal in many aspects, and gets better fuel economy is a bit of a head scratcher. The cost is not that different, so what is the advantage of the Tacoma to most people?

Local dealers in AZ have been adding a $20,000 "market adjustment" fee for 2022 Pros... wild.

Considering the number of trails I've been down in the PNW where I've had to fold in my side view mirrors, there's no way you'd safely fit a Tundra down them.
Now, should your average person who would only street drive their Tacoma get a Tundra instead? Yeah, probably. If they even need a truck at all.

This is the dumbest article. How can you make judgment of year to year sales when there's a shortage of EVERYTHING.

Crazy times. Most dealers are 5K on base models on up. Doesn't seem to make a difference. The dealers without market adjustments have some Tundra's to pick from but zero Tacoma's.

I am buying from a dealer without market adjustments. I am having to wait but I will save my $$$.

Totally agree, but what, 5% of people are actually taking it off pavement? I mean, it's a Tacoma forum, so yeah, size, availability of a manual transmission, etc, have me in a Tacoma, but the 95% of people who are using their truck to load up at Costco probably don't care, and given they are the same manufacturer, and that depreciation on Toyota trucks is minimal, the Tundra makes more sense to Joe Average.

About the same where I am expept I'd lump Colorado and Canyon together since I can't tell them apart so much. And move the old Nissan Frontier in 5 above the Ridgeline.

Only seen one new Frontier so far and it was that sand color. The color was very nice too.

Locally they are coming back in stock, but the ones sitting on the lots are sr’s.
    Or used.
Haven’t seen a sport, off-road or pro in a LONG time.

Agree. I bet most who bought a loaded Tacoma have toiled with the idea of buying a tundra for a bit more $, but came to realize it was a bit dated, a total gas hog not the most maneuverable. Now 2/3 have been removed from the equation, and the Tundra *may* be easier to get in some regions.

Better fuel economy? It’s comparable, perhaps.

I think they are getting their numbers for the report based on completed sales figures. So lack of inventory= smaller sales numbers. Truth is the demand is there but the supply is not.

So its true ppl are buying less Tacoma's but not because Toyota can't sell them, more so they have none to sell.

Size was a bit of a factor for me going back to a Tacoma, but at the time (circa 2019) the Tundra interior reminded me of a 92 escort. Probably had as many USB ports as well.

Saw this brand new Tundra at a dealer last week, waiting to be claimed. Coil rears, 14” screen and they put the driver grab handle back in. Fully loaded looks like. Still too big for me.

Yes, Tundra sales are eating into Tacoma sales. The only reason for this is the scarcity of Tacomas has pushed them up into Tundra price land. Buyers who don't need a small truck may feel that the Tundra is more of a value. Knock off the dealer price hikes and you'll see more Tacomas sold.
