Why did you post this twice? It will just make people less likely to respond...

I would take it to the dealership. Automatic transmissions are very complex and there could be lots of reasons (some not even related to the tranny) as to why it won't shift. Also how do you know it isn't shifting into overdrive? High rpm at 75 or what?

TO MAKE SURE WE SEE IT, TWICE

As for getting a response we need to clarify how you are determining this.

Are you sure it is not going into 5th or is it the convertor not staying locked?

Well that definitely sounds like it is staying in 4th. Since restarting it works it leads me to believe it is an ecu problem or at least some sort of electrical problem of which the dealership is likely the best place to have it diagnosed.

Sounds like an electrical problem to me. Try disconnecting the battery and touching the positive and negative wires together to drain out the stored electricity in the capacitors. This should reset the onboard computers. This will sometimes work on solving electrical issues.

do u have a CAI? I made one and also saw where a few others like volant, actually have narrower tubing wher the MAF sensor is located and thus makes it think that there is a larger volume of air going in (velocity is measured and the computer thinks the space its measured is roughly 4" and mine was only about 3" so i was putting in roughly 75% of the air the truck thought it was getting) this causes the truck to run rich and it will shift crazy, i could manually shift from D to 4 then back to D to make it shift or put it on cruise controll and it would shift out. if not that then maybe clean ur MAF or disconnect the battery for 10 mins or so then see if that resets something.

Are you going down a hill when this happens? Have you tried dropping it down to 4 then back to D to see if it will shift?
