Many people have already chimed in but here's my $0.02:

    1. If you are stuck with a flat, in the middle of nowhere, a smaller spare is better than nothing. An open diff will make up for the difference in size, even in 4 wheel drive.

    2. If you can afford it, run a full size spare. Rotate it in with your regular rotation schedule. You'll actually get use out of the spare if you never need it.

    3. My understanding is folks fit a 33 in the spare location by rebending or trimming the brackets. If you do any off-roading, you'll want to move it from underneath for extra clearance and the fact you don't want to destroy your spare. I mounted mine in my bed. Some folk get a swing out tire carrier.

Those with a 2x-3x undersized spare and electric locker diffs,,unlock them if you can. Let the spiders spin and GO SLOWER. Full lockers/spools?,,watch the turns, you can snap a axle while dragging one, you'll feel that in the seat. A easy check is a infrared gun thermometer, to point at the diff occasionally if your worried about that. Cool temps are good temps for the spider spin. Really hot summer and old gear oil is when you should be more wary somewhat.

Captain Obvious says your choice of above boards spare rack will determine future use of the bed. Choose wisely. Me? , I would have a swingout if needed.

This is what pisses me off about the forums as of late.

    function>aesthetics.

how is being stranded on the side of the road cooler looking then having a spare? if it really puts that much sand in your vagina then mount it in the bed.

kill your rear end? sounds like you need more Vaseline.

Did anybody who responded actually read the question. He wrote " should I just removed it and keep a 33" in the box!" he didn't say he was going to drive without a spare. He said he didn't want to use an undersized spare as it could cause damage and was instead going to carry a 33" spare in the bed. Many of you here are so quick to judge.

You do realize he edited the post after the fact, right?

The original post described him not carrying a spare all together.

Did not know that. Wasn't signed in when I read it so the edit didn't show. What a jerk I am... so quick to judge! Sorry.

tow trucks work if you're on the road. I get not wanting to lay a full size spare in your bed while you figure out where you want to mount it, but having the spare available is a must. If you go off road, no tow trucks, so you need the spare on you. If you get a flat when no shops are open, you can get towed home to put your spare on until you get to the shop. The "find a used 33" suggestion is a god one, around here a used tire is about $30

4 pages of nothing? People have given you suggestions and/or told you that it's not smart to go without a spare no matter what the size.

It's not our fault you're being ignorant.

Lol fuck off, I got my answer within the first couple posts. I was simply concerned about running wrong size of tires and got 4 pages of same answers. Cry me a river

That wasn't your concern from the way you worded it and then chose to edit it later.

If you got your answer within the first few posts then don't complain.

Nobody's complaining but you, so stop being a douche.

Ya Ok ***, I edited my post to clarify my concern. I'm not complaining I'm simply enjoying this so do keep going. I am clearly aware that my best bet it to swap my front tire to the back if I have issues or build a tire carrier.
