If there is enough friction/drag in your rear end due to low fluid causing a discernible decrease in power & fuel economy, I'm going to go out on a limb and say that rear end is toast.

It's the power band of the engine.

You have to get all the way up to 4k to feel a pull. Once you get there though. It pulls hard.

Also, there is no more throttle cable. I never had a car without one, it feels weird. I drive a manual transmission.

This question is asked once a day it seems. But again I'm going to go keyboard warrior for a moment.

"Test drives are so rushed and chaotic. I need to take it home for a month and then decide. They won't let you do that. Also I purchased it a few months after the test drive. And since I can barely remember my own name, I surely don't remember that."

Usually when you make a large expenditure, ideally you would do this research in advance and you can definitely request a longer test drive, perhaps not overnight, but go take in on a freeway or a long stretch of road then return. If you need to take a vehicle home for a month to decide, then that's called a purchase. And because your test drive was so far out from your purchase with the comment of forgetting your own name, did you consider testing it again before sign the docs?

There's been an ECU update on the transmission yes ... it did help mine a bit, however I'm turning 35's. I find shifting my truck in the S mode helps quite a bit. I happen to work for a Toyota dealer (in parts, yall don't hate :p)

RE: Research-- If I waited until today and had read all of the issues and poor user reviews on these forums, I'd never have bought the truck. Then throw in the consumer affairs, consumer reports, and JD power ratings ...not no but HELL no. So yeah I should have waited on purchasing a turd gen and not trusted Toyota based on past reputation of delivering a top quality vehicle. Live and learn.

    That'd be my guess.

Every time I start getting frustrated with it, I just back off and realize it's operating as engineered :frusty:

    I'm waiting for the tune...

Are you planning on getting a shift sense? I'd like to hear your review.

I'm curious... @Stugots what did you drive prior to purchasing your Tacoma?

Waiting until kiddo arrives in September to make any moves I think. May end up stepping to the full size anyway.

Your truck seems to be powered by a rubber band unless you but the put the petal to the metal. There is no in between.

I am also just riding it out. I really hope OVtuner comes out with an actual tune and I'll just spend my money there. Otherwise the shiftsense looks like it'd be a simple fix, and people are really liking it. Particularly those with over sized tires.

Getting pretty sick and tired of hearing all these complaints of power and trans hunting for gears type of threads..

I'm on 275's and have zero complaints. Learn how to drive, anticipate your hills, downshift, or ECT the bad boy. I'm happy with mines.
Stop being a pussy and get heavier on the skinny pedal if you need it. You bought a truck, not a Prius, so don't worry about your mpg. Enjoy the damn truck!
