Haven't heard of that one yet, I bought a ThinkDiag last year and it's quite impressive for the cost although I use my Verus Edge for most stuff just because IMO it has the best UI and graphing.

I had a strange one but on a '96 camry...turned out to be a bad coil driver in the ECM and the ground started coming up on the IGt...very intermittent problem, would run fine and then wouldn't, and wouldn't start at all, then would start and run fine. Finally caught it in the act. Need a scope for this stuff... Had a bad ECM and ICM....not sure which took out the other, but I got it fixed

check out the base line (ground) on the blue and green trace...blue is IGf, Green is IGt

Replaced coil driver in the ECM, still have a lifting ground on the IGf

    Replaced ICM, all better

Wow yea those are some crazy signals, I agree a scope can be invaluable for stuff like that. Unfortunately scopes are typically out of the realm of most DIYers (and unfortunately alot of shops for that matter), although there are some relatively inexpensive 1 and 2 channel scopes out there that one can do basic signal checks with.
Had an FJ that was setting a cam and crank sensor code and sometimes wouldn't start, first thing I did was scope the cam and crank signals. Found missing teeth on the cam reluctor.

4.0 Cam and crank signals should look like this.
