Correct. Cost for the part was around $140 at my local Toyota dealer and only took a few minutes to change it.

I have this same issue in my 2017 TRD Sport 4x4 right now. Only won’t start if I fill all the way to the click. Already changed the purge valve and replaced the gas cap. If this continues, my next step would be the charcoal vapor canister? Thanks in advance

Yeah man same. I replaced the purge solenoid and it worked for about a month. I'm not sure what to do other than bring it in.

Just got gas and didn’t even fill up and now it still doesn’t start. Checked and got codes P0455 and PO441 which all have to do with EVAP system. I already changed the Purve Valve so I’m guessing I have multiple other problems with the EVAP system. Any help would be appreciated.

I got a bunch of lean codes as well. Yes I changed the purge valve and fixed a vacuum leak. Yet it’s still doing this when I fill up with gas. Then all the codes pop up. I know there is a vent and a canister as the last two items of the EVAP system. So maybe start there?

I think it's something with the canister or maybe something with the fuel tank. I'm having the same EXACT issues. Other then getting fuel the truck seems to be fine, no loss of power or issues starting at all. I can't figure it out so I guess taking it in is the only option.

I get some rough idle where the RPMs go up and down when I put it in Park after driving or in reverse. But it usually levels out. Drives completely fine when in drive. So seems like the canister is the starting point since we already changed the purge valve.

Good luck man let me know how it goes. It's crazy how we have the exact same issue. I bought some MAF cleaner and cleaned the MAF sensor and that made no change.

So I took it to the Toyota dealer. They changed the after market Purge Valve and replaced it with an OEM. The guy told me that the after market parts do not work with EVAP system. Anybody having this issue, make sure you replace the purge valve with an OEM part. Just filled up my tank and it’s back to normal.

You would think automakers would design these EVAP systems to be able to tolerate overfilling (such as designing the system in such a way so that part of the vapor line rises higher than the open end of the tank filler neck before reaching the canister (or putting a check valve on it), allowing gas to spill out the filler before it can reach the canister). As said both here and in the video, so many people do it... especially rounding it up to the next full dollar (what about when the pump nozzle auto-shutoff malfunctions? Seen that happen once...).

Either that, or the (seemingly only occasional) times we hear about this issue, are when people desperately try to get that very last ¼ ounce of fuel in there (right up to the top of the filler tube where it's visible), and they just aren't fessing up to what they (or the gas station attendant) did.

They do, it is a one way vapor valve, if it allowed liquid to go through, everytime it was full or close to full, combined with the sloshing around, it would put liquid into the hose/valve, all of them would fill the canister, close to everytime.

Some people are just over reacting. does it happen? sure. does the valve fail sometimes? yep. does it for everyone, everytime? nope. I have topped mine up after click off, up to 2 gallons on the tacoma, many many times... no issues. I have done it to all my vehicles since I started driving. Again... no issues. Your results may vary. Ski

It is common. I've had multiple aftermarket purge valves fail right out of the box on the same car until I bit the bullet and bought oem
think about where the filler neck is. They would have to mount the canister up by the back window of the cab to get it higher than the fill neck. It's not realistic.

glad you got it fixed, and yeah many aftermarket parts just aren't worth the risk,,,, or not to me anyways. My buddy is a tech and does lots of work at home too, and unless the part is unavailable, or he knows firsthand it's the OE's supplier, he simply won't use aftermarket and turns work away, as there are just too many upset customers and vehicles coming back.

I figured somewhere in the engine compartment (where all my previous vehicles had it)... But now that I think about it, perhaps the canister is under the bed on the Tacoma:notsure:

Mostly I was just being factious, because we seem to hear about more 2GR-FKS problems than flooded charcoal canisters with so many people topping them off.
