I have a 99 tacoma w 3.4 v6 that I just installed a new used engine into. After the motor swap when I tried to start it I have a no crank no start issue that I have spent hours trying to figure out. I have tripled checked all connections. I'm getting 12v on the starter but not on the start wire when key is turned. Pulled the relay and jumped it and got the starter to crank. I pulled neutral safety switch and cleaned it up. Still nothing. I thought it might be an issue with the rs3000 vip security system so I completely pulled all of that crap so its back to original. Still nothing. Checked voltage on the white wire in the ignition switch and have 12v on that but not sure if that's a good indicator of if the switch is working properly. Fuses are all good. What I could use help with is how to check the nss and the ignition switch. Grounds seem to all be good since I used the engine as ground and connected to the +12 and had voltage. Battery is charge up. Dash lights are coming on. I don't hear the starter relay clicking when in start position but I also don't seem to be getting voltage on either the 2 or 4 pin locations on the relay box when key is turned. I had whole harness pulled during this process but everything seems to be correct and back together. Now that I don't have any hair left to pull out and my voice is gone due to screaming expletives I need some help. Anything to be offered would be appreciated. Thanks

Starter safety switch. On your transmission, passenger side. You may override if automatic by placing in neutral. If auto and cannot remove from park, use your key and life up the tab with small hole just above your shifter, there you will find a small white switch. By moving this switch you can unlock the shifter to go to neutral. A parts person told me you can sometime fix this by the removal of this switch and simply placing it back in. Careful I'm having same problem so if you get it running go to Toyota, if over 65K miles consider replacement. If you decide to do this yourself then there appears to be two bolts a lone 12 mm and then another that looks like an adjusting bolt since it has two places too turn it. I am not messing with this until I find out how to exactly remove this switch without making more of a problem for myself. Good luck! Woodcutter
