Awesome, thanks a lot I’ll give it a shot. Because of the nylon, would the red lock-tight still be needed?

Wait.....wait.....are you saying that you put red loctite on your leaf spring bolts and nuts? I WOULD NOT recommend this at all. You may have to regrease or change something out in the future. The nylon nuts will be fine or the regular nuts at 87 ft lbs .....NO LOCTITE!

Not that I think Dakar is quality stuff, because it’s not. But contrary to popular belief on TW a flat leaf pack under normal load is the absolute best from a performance perspective. So as long as it doesn’t sag any more and it’s proving the support you need, it’s the best place to be.

Wait... I’m talking about the u-bolts.. are we talking about the same thing? Because I put a crap ton of red Loctite on them. Are you supposed to? lol.

Red loctite is by no means the super strong thread locker that most make it out to be. Little heat from a torch will solve that problem. Its mainly on small screws where you have a real fun time attempting to remove them with the red stuff.

But yes, torqueing to spec should be plenty fine on its own. Just recheck the torque a few months later.

Personally, I don’t use Loctite except on wheel bearing assemblies. But to answer your question, you’ll be fine. It’ll probably just be a bit stubborn if you ever need to remove the U-Bolts again. I just retorque after a couple hundred miles.

Been using the red shit on things that needed it or not for decades.

Little machine screws and the like are the only thing that's ever bit me in the ass.
Sets incredibly fast on the little stuff with tight tolerances too, as IIRC it's the absence of oxygen that makes it set. I even had it kick once on some itty bitty machine screws before I could get the part fully assembled.

Yup. Its barely noticeable on some of the larger stuff Ive worked on. Just get a bigger impact gun or longer breaker bar. But green or red loctite on tiny set screws can add a ton of time to an otherwise easy job.

    I guess that makes sense.
I believe my 370z had loctite on the shifter and I shattered that thing to pieces. Could not get it off. But it’s a small screw compared to a U-Bolt.

So... I guess I’ll try the nylon bolts and reduce the torque on them to see if it helps with the flattening of the leaf pack. I’ll probably get a u-bolt flip kit while I’m at it.

If I want to regain the 1” lost, should I put in a spacer or just add another leaf? Only reason I consider the spacer is because an extra leaf seems like it’ll stiffen it way too much. I just want the rake I had back.. in getting dangerously close to having a bro-lean.

The majority of people will probably tell you to get an AAL. If you haul/tow, that would be the better option to give the packs some extra support. I have a 1” ready lift block and haven’t had any issues in the past 3 years with it.

Looks like a great option, I’ll definitely look into them. I’ve wanted a 63 swap since foreever. But swapping a leaf pack+archive sound like less of a headache. RXT option 2 looks appealing..

Got mine on 2 years ago, today. Not sagging a bit, still the same height.

"Looks like it sagged" and actual sagging with measurements pre and post lift are two different things.
    Have you taken measurements?
I've got HD Dakars and I got more lift than I wanted lol

Also you can always add a leaf to make it the HD pack and you'll definitely gain back the "lost" height.

    How well do they flex?

Yeah measured about 1” of lost height.

So you're only on roughly 1" of lift now with Dakar MDs?

I’ll double check tomorrow just to be sure. I measured 39” when I first installed them (I’m on 33s, measured from the ground to the fender) anyways, I’m at 38” now..

Oh damn yeah that's definitely sagging. I would personally try adding the extra leaf to make it an HD leaf pack. I only ride with 130 pounds in the bed daily and the ride is nice

Ubolts are different yes. I was talking about the bolts going through your bushings in your leafs, not the ubolts. Those nylon nuts are for the leaf bolts, not the u bolts.
