I hooked up my landscape trailer today and turned on the lights and lost my taillights and my dash lights. I thought it might have blown a fuse. I checked all of them and the 7.5 amp one marked STA on the diagram doesn’t work (circled in red). I replaced it, but I still have no power to either side of the amp. And yes, I disconnected the trailer connection before replacing it. Shouldn’t I have power to one side of the fuse, even if it was blown?

I think I answered my own question. That ‘STA’ fuse has nothing to do with the taillights or the dash lights. The fuses fir both of those are under the hood, not in the fuse box under the dash. I will check them out tomorrow. Weird that I lost both of those when they aren’t on the same circuit, right?

So it looks like all that should be on the 10A TAIL fuse, which itself is downstream of the 120A ALT fuse. But if you blew the alt fuse, something else is wrong.

Turns out it was the TAIL fuse in the fuse box in engine compartment. I replaced it and my taillights and dash lights work again. Now I have to figure out why the trailer would’ve popped the fuse. The trailer is brand new (Oct 2020) and I pulled it with another truck on way home and had no electrical problems. Seems like it has to be in the trailer harness in the Tacoma. Would a bad ground pop the fuse?

Finally figured out my trailer light issue. When they built the trailer, one of the fender screws hit the ‘brown’ wire and was grounding it out. It took a bit of troubleshooting, but at least it was a cheap and easy fix.

Thanks! I need the trailer lights to work properly because I’m going to pick up a new toy on Friday. :)

Are the dash lights and the radio lights on different fuses. I had put in aftermarket stereo system and still using factory radio .
