I'm dumbfounded any truck in the world comes without a tow package.

You can hook up a hitch but your tow capacity is still a shitty 3500lbs without the trans cooler or bigger alternator.

If you intend to tow it will be most cost effective to get a truck with the tow package.

Even if you don't tow, those extra coolers and whatnot help your truck live longer.

No Tow is a big no Go!!! You lose so much the Tranny cooler, Oil Cooler and 130 Amp Alternater, and don't let them put any aftermarket tow crap on the truck cause you will still be missing all the important stuff in that Package!! Here in Florida we have 72 Hours upon purchase of a vehicle to get out of a Sined Contract. Not sure what it is by you but get your ass to that dealer now and dump that truck before it's too Late!!!

The 2nd Gens had 3 different TRD Sport options, IIRC. The base option didn't come with the tow package, but the other 2 did.

First clue will be whether or not one is listed on the Monroney (window) sticker. :)

Second clue will be whether or not you have an oil and transmission cooler assembly near the bottom of the radiator.

Just because you mentioned getting out of contracts. At least here in CA, some places let you pay $500 for a "cool off period." Pay $500 and you get 3 days to drive, if you don't like it, bring it back, contract is void but they keep the $500.

Unfortunately it seems the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles doesn't agree with you.

From their Car Buyer's Rights publication page 6: "No Three-Day Right to Cancel Many consumers mistakenly believe they have three days to cancel the purchase contract. There is no cooling off period under Florida law"

Nolo.com offers the following more general view: "No law gives you the right to cancel a contract to buy a car. But there is such widespread misunderstanding about this that some states require car dealers to specifically notify car buyers that they do not have the right to cancel the contract."

I got mine used. I don't tow so it's not something I was concerned about, but now I'm curious. How can I tell if it has the tow package or not? Can I enter my vin number somewhere?

99% chance that you have the tow package and not some after market part.

You'll see a hitch out back (could be aftermarket) but the the surefire way to tell is if you look through the grill you'll see the transmission cooler under the horns on drivers side.
    20170309_173023.jpg
Took this pic the other day mocking up a larger trans cooler.

I'm not piling on, I'm genuinely curious what the situation is. I'd also be curious what the documentation states as well. When you take delivery does it not list out all the options that are on the truck as well?
