This may be Canadian specific but I couldn't seem to find the regional forum for Canada on the dropdown menu.

I recently bought a 2017 TRD sport DCSB MT. I was told by the dealership that this truck does not have TPMS. Here is the story:

I planned to put different wheels on the truck so I got a quote from the dealership for the new tires and tpms sensors mounted and balanced on my new rims. I ended up getting the new tires installed on new rims along with TPMS sensors by a local tire shop. The day I took delivery of my new truck, I had the dealership swap out the stock wheels with my new wheels. I also asked them program the truck with the new sensors. After installing the new wheels, they were a little surprised that no TPMS light came on as expected, since they hadn't reprogrammed anything yet. After looking into it a little further, they told me that it seems this truck (or trim package) doesn't come with TPMS. I have also driven around for a day (without stock tires in the box of the truck), and still no TPMS light has come on the dash.

Not only did I spend a few hundred extra dollars that I didn't need to (putting sensors into new rims unnecessarily), now I'm selling new stock tacoma wheels and tires without TMPS sensors (which most purchasers will likely want).

Can anybody on this forum confirm this?

That is correct, Canada trucks do not have the freedom sensors installed.

I'm glad that someone seems to know these details, the dealership was certainly surprised to discover it.

I was under the impression (and I guess the dealer as well) that the TPMS was standard, at least on the TRD trim. My truck comes with several other options like sunroof and seat heat, why leave off the TPMS? Seems a little random to me.

It also does not have push button start, is that to do with the MT?

MT does not have push button start.

To be honest, I'd rather have a truck w/o the TPMS system, but in the US all new vehicles sold has to have them now.

I guess Canada does not have the same law.
