Thought I'd give a heads up since the symptoms seemed unrelated.

While messing with trailer wires near the plug at the truck's bumper, I thought I heard a "click" but didn't worry about it.

When I got in the truck, I had the following issues (trailer was unplugged when i noticed these):
-auto trans lever wouldn't move out of Park.
-turn signals didn't work but hazard flashers did work.
-A/C and defroster didn't work but fan did blow air out of dash vents (fan switch and temperature switch worked).
-head lights, fog lights, brake lights, and tail lights worked.
-when i pushed the lock override to shift out of park, noticed the reverse lights didn't work either.

    The fix:
    - A fuse, 10A. It was the "IGN1" fuse if I remember correctly. The one in the panel below/left of steering wheel.

Anybody know what that fuse is exactly since it covers so many various things?

you where hooking/unhooking a trailer? if so, you have a short some where (probably on the trailer. i have the oem tow package and have had my 7 pin plug off of the truck (the whole harness) for the last week and have had no problems.

yup, wires on the trailer had shorted. It just seemed really strange to me that between the 2 fuse panels there are a few fuses for "trailer ___" and various lights but none of those blew. I would've never guessed an IGN fuse. Only found it b/c I started going row by row checking every fuse.

After just checking the fuses that I thought it should have been but before looking at every fuse, I googled and found where some people (mostly 4runners) had had problems with not being able to shift of out Park too and I didn't like the answers people were giving.

So thought I'd put this post up just in case it can save someone from going to the dealer thinking some sensor, switch, relay, linkage, etc was bad.

My truck wouldn’t start in park, $700 later and it was the park selector thing above the trans
Small piece of metal and plastic with a bolt or three
Stealership got me good that day
