Do any of you guys use a NOAA weather radio while out on the trail? I'm trying to figure out if it is worth getting a CB w/ the weather radio feature or if its unnecessary.

As for handheld weather radios do they get decent reception in most trail areas?

...or is a weather radio almost pointless because the forecast will almost always be HOT and HOT...

Without doing any research I would have to guess that something with a satellite data radio would be ideal. I know there are hand held GPS units like this but I think you have to pay for data usage.

But if your close to civilization I don't know if you would need such a thing.

I get on NOAA everyday, but I'm a weather freak. You should get it.its not much more $$ for that feature.

Handhelds have gotten progressively better and all my handhelds have NOAA also.

Reception can be spotty way back in, but you'd be surprised how many places pick up NOAA signals.

Az weather can change fast , hot can turn cool and in the winter down right frigid in the high country.
