I think that it’s rub. I have a 2.5 inch lift RC. I’m running 265 70 16s which is stock size but I noticed it right after the lift. I’m curious why it would make this noise since I’m running stock wheels with stock tire size

    Thanks

Idk if it has anything to do with steering but my truck is way less assisted than anything else I’ve driven

what does "way less assisted" mean?

Did you get it aligned after you did the lift?

I mean the power steering is weaker than all the other vehicles I’ve driven

Now that I think of it I’m not sure that they did do an alignment. I guess I’ll dig in some paperwork to look for that thanks.
I noticed back to power steering fluid looks a lot darker than other vehicles I’ve driven but I had the rack and pinion replaced it was over a grand for that

Interesting, I've never noticed a weaker power steering. The steering in my wife's corolla is lighter, buy my '17 4Runner isn't really any lighter.

If you had a shop do the lift, and they didn't do an alignment, that's the world's worst shop.

If you want to figure out where/if it is rubbing, you can get some blue painters tape and line the frame and fender wells in all the spots that could possible rub. Then take it out for a drive. The tape should make it pretty obvious where/if it's rubbing.

I’m pretty sure they did do an alignment then they are one of the most popular if not THE most popular lift installers. I never noticed it but my grandfather drove it once and immediately remarked how much weaker it is than his tundra. He looked at wheels I had stationary with engine on of course and he couldn’t see anything. I have to be careful when I drove his 2008 tundra, my brothers 2010 Nissan car and my moms 2018 4Runner because I’m so used to putting more force on the wheel. Moving my wheel a certain distance does less than their wheels the same distance. Like I gotta do more rotations to do what theirs does in less rotations

Well, assuming they did an alignment (properly), I'd still try the tape trick to see if you can find any spots where it's rubbing.

My truck is squeaking when I push on the bed even slightly. Upon investigation, I feel like it’s where the new shackles meet the old leafs. Hesitant to lubricate not sure if there are rubber seals in there

Unless what I was hearing with the rubbing was the power steering pump saying “ay ay what u doin”:rain:

    UPDATE*thread revival
It was the wheel grinding on front suspension. It appears that they reversed (flipped from correct side) the component that connects on the front right tire.(idk what called) it is stock wheel and stock tire size. All around the wheel on the inside I see it. There are lil metal flakes on the part and on the wheel. What should I expect when I take it back? Are they going to blow me off and say it wasn’t them? :bananadead:

    OME and worth every penny.
Your going to have to get closer than that though.
I'm thinking you're meaning tie rod ends but they shouldn't have taken those off. (although reversing them would rub I bet) pictures worth a thousand words.

Steering fluid should be red and it should have been flushed with a new rack just for a warranty.

Well, it sounds like it's been 2 months since you had the lift installed, I doubt they'll be willing to do much for you at this point.

Can you take some pictures of your front suspension, a view kind of like this: and maybe one from the back so we can see where the steering connects to where the wheel is.

I think that looks like your dust shield on the front brakes that's rubbing the wheel. It's the thin piece of sheet metal that's right next to the brake rotor (but doesn't spin with the wheel.

Oh. I don’t like how it rubs on the other thing tho. I’m assuming I just need to have that piece flipped just like the drivers side to fix it

It looks like it has seen better days. It's obviously doing a lot of damage to your wheel. You can either replace it with a new one that's not all bent up, or just trim a little bit of it off so it doesn't rub anymore...
