I have a 2023 SR 4X4 4 dr 6 cyl. auto. (This truck is 3 weeks old today.) This past Sunday I went for a short 2 hour drive. After coming home and resting for a while, I went outside, (about 3 hours time.) I was walking around the truck and as I passed the drivers side rear tire I heard what sounded like the hum of a small electric motor. I walked around the truck and heard the same thing by the other rear tire, only not quite as loud. Now this sound is not real loud. It has to be coming from the fuel pump in the gas tank. I went in and got the keys and started the truck. I have not heard the sound sense. I called my dealer this morning. I was told that this is "NORMAL". I have an appointment later this week for them to ckeck this out.

Has anyone heard of this before? I was a mechanic at a FORD dealership in the late 70' and early 80's. Long time ago. I've had 4 major occupations over the years. The only computer's in the cars I worked on were a pencil and piece of paper. I am 76 years old, and still have about 95% of my mine active. This is my 4th TACOMA sense 2007. In between I have had 2 RAV 4.

    Later guys!!!!!

Thanks guys. Getting old sucks. My last day at the FORD dealership was a"blast". The owners son accused me of stealing the day I walked out and I broke his jaw. The 2 people that were there told him he should watch that oil on the driveway. One was the shop forman, and the other was the parts man. (I out lived that little punk!!!!!

Op, I’m old, and yes getting old does suck, however it is better than the alternative. I only learned about the fan/charcoal filter thing on here, and verified by my mechanic. I hate car dealerships and avoid them at all costs. Enjoy your new truck.

The truck tests the evap system. Seems to happen daily. Sounds like a small air compressor. All normal. My 2nd gen Tundra does it as well

In the TOC of the owner's manual you'll see a topic to the effect of 'noise from underneath vehicle'. Pg 8 or so.

Hopefully, we have not transformed into a group of people that cannot say Read The Fucking Owner's Manual, instead to pander to those who get butt hurt at the slightest sign of man-up-ness.
If we have, I need to go into my shop and just stay there until I die. I can understand a lot of things, but, one thing I cannot understand is people who defend the clueless. Clueless to me means they have the ability to learn but chose not to learn because it's hard. I can understand most people would have trouble with astrophysics or thermodynamics. The owner's manual should not be hard.

Being 76 yrs. old, I didn't even think of the owner's manual. Like I said before, I was an Auto Mechanic back in the 70's and 80's. Some of the new teck is quite hard to understand. I try..... I called the dealership when this happened and got the answer that really told me nothing. They told me to come in. (I canceled the appointment.) I wanted a straight answer when I posted, not being treated like a moron. This was something new to me. I got good straight answers to my question, and a few crappy one's.

Sorry I bothered anyone. I won't bother anyone again with "DUMB" questions on this forum again. Don't get me wrong, I read this forum every day. I just don't like being treated like a total stupid ASS!!!!!

This truck is my 20th new car or truck. 6 used cars & trucks, and 5 motorcycles including 2 Harley's. I am not stupid, I just ran into something new to me.....

I'm a bit of a geezer myself. Don't let the youngsters in here slap you around. Some of them live in their mother's basement and
collect unemployment and have nothing better to do than berate anyone and everyone. Post away and ignore the rude responses -

I don’t pander to snowflakes either, but the gentleman politely asked a sincere question, and even gave insight to his age and background.

His question was not out of line, but some of these responses might be.

There will be a day we are where he is, and I only hope there are kinder generations ahead.

I guess me being 60 years old make me the young smartass right? @2021SR5V64WD I moved out of my adopted parent's house the day I turned 18 and never looked back. I've had three jobs in my career, last one is current with 25 year here. So, if you want to talk shit, find someone else please.
@tvterry your question was not dumb but a quick owner's manual read would have given you the answer quick. Pretty much everything about the truck is in there.
@kahanabob if you have had four Triumphs then you know the value of a good manual.

My whole point, and it seems to be lost, is.... what happened to helping people help themselves (telling them to read the owner's manual) instead of just blindly answering questions?
Sure, some questions are hard. Not this one. I would have thought at your ages you would have had a bit thicker skin.
