I knew a mechanic at a FORD dealership in the early 60's and he told me that when people would leave their car for service most of the time they would get "the sunshine treatment". leaving the car outside with the hood up and the sun shining on it. i will never forget him telling me that.

You don't have to justify why you didn't refer to the owners manual. If you want to come on here and start a topic or ask a question then do it. That is what the sight is for. The ones that get butt hurt over someone not referring to the manual should just move along to a topic that suits them. There are more friendly folks here that are willing to help and answer questions than ones that think they are to manly to help and simply say read the manual.

I am sorry I brought this up. I won't ask another question on this forum. I just got this truck 3 weeks ago. I traded in a 2020 SR Tacoma 4X4 4 Dr. V6 auto trans. It never did, to my knowledge, do what I asked about. Thanks for a prompt answer telling me what was happing. That is all I wanted. I gave you some of my history to show that I am not a brainless old man. You ask you learn. Enough said. Thanks again. I know when I am beat. Gone.....

You have nothing to be sorry for, no apology needed. There are plenty of rude people on this site as in life. I just try and ignore them, not always easy.

You just look for a good answer to your question and overlook the rest and you’ll be good I learned that a few years ago.

Hell I just google stuff and if I don't find it then RTFM. I gotta say it is one of the best owners manuals I've ever used.

If this forum was only used for reference and only the freshest of topics, it would be a fucking ghost town compared to what it is now.

Thanks to all, for posting a comment - especially the well-meaning old guys! I appreciate the question, as I didn’t read the owner’s manual either.
I am aware, that OBDII generation vehicles, pressurize the fuel system, to check for fuel vapor leakage. Apparently my 2023 performs this test any old time - to the tune of 7 hours after driving?! Seems unusual to me. From my experience, with ALL other cars I have owned, the test initiates a minute or two, after turning the engine off. News to me!
So, again, thanks for the question and comments!
