Noise when I shut off the engine - AC Compressor maybe?

Does anybody know what this is and if it's cause for concern? It's a 2014 4.0L with 24,000 KM (15,000 miles) and when I shut it off it sounds like a pump or fan spins up before shutting down. It seems to be coming for the passenger side toward the firewall. Maybe the AC compressor?

Smog pump.

 

Interesting. My 2011 didn't make this noise. Is it a malfunctioning smog pump or a normal sounding smog pump?

 

And 2.7s.. my truck does the same thing.

Sorry, the short answer was an homage to this thread. My 2013 does it, and it's completely normal. I'm not sure what year it started, but it's nothing to worry about.

I did. It doesn't mention a smog pump and the only diagrams of the engine bay don't identify it.

Oh, crap. Guess I didn't use the right key words when I searched.

 

Any Toyota service adviser will tell you that is "characteristic" of later model Tacomas.... A term they heavily use to turn warranty customers away, but is correct regarding the air noise at shut down.
