So I put the front of the truck up on jack stands today, and noticed that when I spun the front driver side wheel I heard a clicking sound coming from the front diff area. It didnt do this on the passenger side but the driver side it did. Just wondering if this is a normal sound as its rotating the diff or if I have another issue going on. Wondering if anyone else has noticed this.
    Thanks

I'm guessing here, but I would posit it is the ADD that makes the difference. The ADD disconnects the two front axels from each other, while one is still connected to the differential. It is likely the differential you are hearing.

Are you sure its the diff and not the inner CV joint?

The diff doesn't make a clicking sound when turned. I suspect your CV joint is going out.

Does the wheel have any physical feedback, like can you feel the click/crunch as you turn it, and when you shake the wheel side to side, is it solid or does it wobble?

If there's no crunch and it feels solid, it's probably fine.

Not exactly sure, the sound was coming from either the diff or somewhere near it. Ill have to get it back on stands to try to pin point it. Thanks man!

No side to side or up and down wobble what so ever, just heard a clicking sound somewhere near the diff. as i would rotate the tire. only on driver side, passenger side was quite.

I suspected the same, just wondering if any of you noticed the sound on your trucks while rotating the tire while its off the ground. Not sure if that's normal or not?

No not normal. I’m still going with CV though.

I would think you should be able to hear the rolling of the spider gears inside the diff when you spin the driverside wheel, but it should not be loud at all (at least with the factory diff anyway, some aftermarket diffs such as ARB can be much noisier).
If it's a very noticeable noise (can be heard inside while driving), then yeah, needle bearing or a CV joint.
