Mine just started ticking while in fan is on low speed. Reminds me of the sound a blade would make if it is just knicking the shoud a little bit. I have had this on Chevy's before and it wasn't long till the motor went kaputz.

Yup, went in today to get mine looked at and he told me they recently did this on a 2010 Tacoma. The customer came back within a couple of weeks with the same problem again...

He also said they have been doing a lot of blower fans recently, and the backorder could take two or three weeks. :bored:

Well.... Went in for my "appointment" at the dealership to have the blower replaced. waited 15 minutes, and they call me telling me that the part is on backorder and they will call me when they have it. I just had to ask since they made the "appointment" 2 weeks ago whenI was in having a state inspection done, and the part was backorderd why did they not call me and tell me not to come in? They said they should have and do not know why they did not. WTF! So I take a day off since they claim it will take over 2 hours just to install the parts, and now I have to take another day off in some future time when they might get the part.

Seriously Toyota customer service is crap.

Seriously, just manipulate the screws. If its making the noise then it's likely going to crap anyway. Why not adjust the screws and save yourself some time at the dealership. Took me 20 minutes a year ago and have not had a problem since.

Subscribed to see how the aftermarket fans pan out. I've heard the same story as some of you... back ordered part, additional insulation to muffle the sound.... i'm officially on the waiting list for another blower from toyota now. we'll see how that one goes. after reading this thread needless to say i'm feeling pessimisitic.

i had the ticking/chirping noise also. called the dealership and made an appointment. also aksed if they have any new motors in stock so i didnt waste a trip. they had 1. dropped it off today and they replaced the motor(part # 87103-04041) and also installed a noise insulation kit (part # 04009-46104). was done in about 4 hrs.

happy to say that the noise is gone! hopefully it dosent come back like others have had happen.

My truck is 6 months old with 16000 miles on it and my blower motor actually shorted out. It made that chirping noise for the longest time and finally one day it just seized. So toyota has to pay for a rental for me to drive around in until the blower motors come in off of back order. I would highly recommend doing something to get the blower motor to seize because it is illegal to not have defrost therefor they have to supply a car for you under warrenty fully paid for.... Plus, I'm sure as sh*t not driving around in a truck with no heat in the january in the north east!

This is bullshit. There are so many threads like this on this topic. I can't believe they haven't come out with a new motor or done something other than cram foam in the dash.

I haven't had a lot of problems with my truck. And nothing major for sure, but everyone I have taken to them has met this kind of attitude from the dealers.

Truck vibrating at cruising speeds - Cause = Unknown - Solution = Unknown

Climate Control lights going on and off - Cause = Unknown - Solution = bang on it.

Now I get to bang on my blower fan until it quits working.

I am a total OEM parts fan after being burned by noisy or over drawing electrical parts on other cars, but I'm completely on the lookout for OEM alternatives for this part.

I'm not sure if the part is to blame, or the installation. I think if this fan was positioned differently with less negative pressure from the constricted filter, the motor wouldn't have to work so hard, and brush debris would not be falling into the main bearing.

    /End Rant

Well I got mine replaced in October under warranty and noticed this week that the sound is back. That's 3 months. They won't replace it until they hear it so I'm going to let it go until spring and then take it back. They need to redesign the motor bearings on this part.

Ok, so I'm ready to sledge hammer my fan. It is driving me insane. My TSB fan has been on back order for 3 weeks and they still cant tell me when it will be in. "We'll call you" is all they can say.

So I need some feedback on these aftermarket ones. Are they working? How long have you had it? Satisfied?

I checked online to all the local AutoZones, and no one has it in stock anyhow.
