    Good morning All

Ive owned 3 Tundras and now Im looking at a 2023 Tacoma
Drove a SR5 yesterday . Outside temp was 40 degrees
    Three observations :

    1) Sitting in cab I could hear a constant ticking noise from engine compartment
Sounded like overhead valve train or injectors
    Dealer Comment : normal

    2) When driving , very smooth 0 to 40 . Above 40 it felt like there were snow tires on all
four wheels ,constant low grade vibration
    Dealer comment : normal

    3) Sometimes the shifting felt strange , like it would momentarily slow down and then shift

Just looking to see if these conditions
    Thanks for your responses

1 and 3 are completely normal. The ticking is a cleaning cycle notorious to the NA 3.5L. The shifting is a very well documented issue on here...there are aftermarket tunes you can get to resolve most of the problems.

2 is not normal. You should not be feeling any vibrations in the driveline. I would drive another Tacoma and see if it is just you being oversensitive to the smaller/different truck or if that truck just had a vibration. Vibrations are common but not "normal".

    1 . Normal
2 . Unless it’s excessive vibration it’s normal . Also check tire pressure it makes a difference on these trucks .
    3 . Normal for the auto .

Compared to the numb cruiseliner handling that is the Tundra, yes the Tacoma is a noisy rough riding bitch. That was kind of the point of them. They give a lot of feedback at the wheel, but they are also very poorly insulated.

You either like Elvis or the Beatles: you either love the novacaine-patient Tundra or the skateboard-over-gravel Tacoma. I'm in camp latter.

You are going from the cushiony Lincoln Town Car ride of a full size Tundra to the hop skip and jump feel of the Tacoma. Your transition path makes the differences much more noticeable.

All of the reviews are from Tacoma/Toyota enthusiasts invited to checkout the 4th gen. They probably get paid to give good reviews and build hype. They aren’t going to invite people that are going to trash talk it.

I've found that most dealers over inflate the tires by about 10psi

4th gen leaves with me less than zero interest.

Brand new version 1.0 engines, plus turbos, plus batteries.
    No thanks.

Version 1.0 products are fraught with bugs.
Cars, computers, operating systems, electronics, cameras... all of 'em.

The very last thing I want in a truck is an under sized engine displacement having the snot worked out of it with a turbo.
The twin turbos in my SIL's F150 are already on the fritz. No thanks.

The Gen 4 is even bigger than the Gen 3. Again, no thanks.
I wanted a gentleman's pickup truck and not a land yacht fraught with v1.0 bugs.

The trans does settle down once it learns how you drive . Mine did and it’s totally fine , the vibration thing no . For what it’s worth I have no complaints

I had a vibration around 50 mph. Went away when I got rid of the stock Toyo tires and put on Michelin LTX Defenders. Probably should have had the Toyo tires checked and balanced but never did.
