Sounds like you’ve done your homework.
I’m close to buying the same Nokians, interesting to hear about your warranty experience.
As for size, personally I think the 255/75 is the sweet spot for 3rd Gen gearing. My truck is “tuned” but the change in tire size to 255/75 Duratracs was the real difference maker.
These Taco’s also don’t weigh that much, increasing the cross section width doesn't help with traction.
Go with the 255/75’s you’ll be happy.

Thank you for the feedback recommendation. I'm definitely leaning 255. The new gen Taco has more room in the wheel well vs 3rd gen so 255 won't quite fill it in the same but I'm thinking efficiency over looks. Plus a 255 will fit on the skimpy spare tire rim as factory 4th gens come 265 70 but a 245 spare and if I'm upgrading tires I may as well do all 5.
I know this is a Nokian thread but I found the gearing changes between 3rd&4th gens so I'll post for reference. 6MT for me.

As for warranty swap of AT to nAT..nothing failed on the ATs rather we selected them because of their advertised weight and our local tire shop told us they were made in America. Going on a Subaru with CVT we wanted to be weight conscious.
After receiving them I put them on a scale at home and realized they were lbs heavier than advertised and made in Russia. I barked at Nokian and the regional Manger contacted me wanting to make it right and offered a swap into the updated version of nAT however I'd need to wait until stock was available from the new factory. 4 months later they called and I went in and they swapped us into nATs.
I have only good things to say about Nokian CS with above and beyond moves like they did for us is a fast way to make a guy brand loyal.

Happy to hear you found a trustworthy replacement and sorry to hear the Russian ATs were a disappointment.

The Rugged Treks do look impressive. Their cousin the MT Baja Boss AT with its soft compound definitely intruiges for winter performance AT but finding them in stock in Canada is few and far between.

Have you noticed a change your MPGs?
Is there much of a weight difference between the Rugged Treks and your outgoing Outpost ATs?

You could definitely run the nAT all year, I live in Yellowknife which probably has some of the most treacherous winter conditions in Canada and they have been performing very well. I've driven them on a couple of ice roads and it felt very safe. I've only needed to engage 4wd on icy obstacles or deep snow. They are no Hakkas but still very impressive, especially given my DCLB and no weight on the rear axle.

Yeah. After 15k of puckers with the Nokians, I'm still getting used to the feeling of traction in the wet. Note that it was my wife telling me to ditch them from the right seat.

No changes that I can verify yet. XL rated. I'm a believer in SLs or similar sidewalls for the Taco.

Friends love the Baja Bosses. I couldn't go there for the LT aspect.

Ya that sounds like a nightmare. Glad to hear you can enjoy driving in the slick again.

I'm looking at SL or XL as well.
It's pretty substantial 16lbs jump to LT in the Baja Boss AT.
I screengrabbed these in the r16 spec but my 17's are similarly gapped.

Wow they look great on your truck with those wheels.
Really appreciate you sharing your experience.
Yes your winters are far worse than mine I'm sure of that.
Did you get SL or LT?
    They look big for a 265 70 r17!
Any noticeable hit on MPG - L/100km?

Thank you! We got the SL. I was also pleasantly surprised at how big they look, the black wheels definitely helps with that.

Not certain about MPG, I swapped the wheels and tires two weeks into ownership. And we are still just city driving on ice and gravel so it's hard to draw any conclusions on that.

Definitely. It wasn't a good time.

Not only that, but the stiffer sidewall affects the ride / suspension. I believe that things are feeling a bit more harsh with the Rugged Treks being XLs as the lightest spec. Nothing to hate, just noticeable. It does have me thinking of dropping a couple PSI and testing the handling change. 35psi felt right for the Stock Toyos, Wildpeaks, and the Nokians. Wear was perfect.

Good stuff, I was hoping to hear SL's.
Nothing against LTs, had them on the Tundra but I'd like to stay SL in Tacoma. Just can't settle in on which size but with stock limitations the decision might be made for me lol. 255/75, 265/70 or 285/70 I'm sure I'd be happy with them all in different ways.
Looks like you have the aluminum running boards..are happy with them? Seems as though they are substantial enough to take a hit and protect doors similar to but not as robust as sliders.
Thanks again for all your feedback.

They came with the truck as well. Not sure how much protection they would offer but they would need to bend a lot before damaging the body.

Good info thank you! If I was towing heavy often or on narly construction job sites routinely I'd look at LT but for daily driver and weekend roaming SL/XL is good enough for me.

Right on. Ran aired done on every set so far. Never an issue there, even off camber stuff.

I've been using the nAT for a few months now, they did great in the limited snow we had, and are doing just fine on easy dirt.

I am a little disappointed in the fact that they were billed as a "quieter" AT tire, but the hum these make is oddly higher pitched and more intrusive/annoying than expected. Other AT tires typically have a lower pitched hum if that makes sense.

Which size are you on and did you select P rated or LT ?
As with most LT the tread depth is increased over SL P rated so if you are on LT that hum could possibly improve as you wear them in?

You may want to have your tire shop rebalance them. My new set on Tacoma 255 75 17 are very quiet at all speeds.
The set on my wife's Forester developed this hum at 60km and then again at 110km. Once we hit 120km the shudder was brutal. They were out of balance. Re balanced and sound improved immediately.
I don't know what adhesive Kal Tire is using for their wheel weights but it doesn't hold very well and wheel weights had fallen off of all 4 tires within 2 months of driving on them.

Thanks for the idea, I took the truck to my local tire shop this morning to rebalance, as well as check the alignment. Unfortunately, no change, at 35mph (the speed of my daily commute) the tires sound like an alien spaceship haha. While trying to get the hot air out of the cabin, I was driving with the windows down, air conditioning at full blast, and the tires could still be heard over the vents and wind noise.

I may just be too sensitive to repetitive droning sounds?

Try a cross rotation? That really helped with the Wildpeaks.

@ucmike11 darn it was really hoping that would help improve it for you.
The cross rotation by @tonered is a great idea!
The Outpost nAT s are non directional so that's an straight forward switcheroo!
