What I am looking for is a hood with scoop that is not metal. Either fiberglass, duraflex, or something like that. Does anyone know of a manufacturer?

I know how to use google. I even know how to use LMGTFY. I guess I wasn't clear in my post. I don't want an after market looking hood scoop, I want a factory look 2nd gen hood. All I find are other scoops using Google

That's kinda what I was thinking with the searching I've been doing. But figured I'd stop in and ask, figured you guys would be the ones to know. Hate to buy a hood just to make a mould from just to get rid of the original. :/

This is what I ended up doing. Bought a hood and my body guy skinned my engine lid and the Tacoma hood. Put the Tacoma skin on my lid. Came out beautiful

    I'm curious.

    Why?

Are you thinking it will weigh less?

Since the scoop is for show, do you have some plan to make it functional? Like the Hilux models that have the IC laying right under them?

And have you looked at the manuf. of the glass fenders/beds for these trucks? Seems like they'd be a prospect for a hood.

Yes it is functional...well in reverse for the mr2. I cut the back off the plastic insert. The air comes into our engine bays from the side vents and from under the car. The factory engine lid had slats for the air to escape which I always thought was ugly. This is what I came up with

Sorry for the confusion. My post was related to the original post. Assuming you were looking for a glass hood for a Tacoma, not parts to chop, as you didn't originally specify the purpose of the hood. Thus my 'why's'.

As an old autox'er I'm very familiar with mr2s, their balance, etc. Your cooling/trim solution is pretty 'cool' looking. (pun intended)

Ah. Makes sense now. My body guy was originally looking for fiberglass to put it on the factory turbo hood. But we went with metal to put in the n/a metal hood

None. Just like putting it on the Tacoma. Aesthetics. But I did make it functional

No gains are possible. It'll keep your engine cooler though which theoretically could yield a gain, extremely small one

Yeah, the ask was for a non-metal scooped hood that looked stock. Unfortunately this is not cheap or that functional.
