That's nice to hear about the 4th bolt. I shouldn't have it too bad as I think I have more access up there with the ARB on there. We'll see. Should be throwing them in Saturday.

The bag idea is genius!! If I had only checked this thread before doing it! Haha

    Thanks for the great update.

Silicone. Just have a wet rag handy to repeatedly clean your finger, and everything around you. Painters trick.

You found OEM for $227 each?

I was able to get OEM smoked lights from my dealer for $187 each.

Pro tip! Yeah that was the best I could get. Too rich for my blood!

Wow!! You got a smokin' deal. I wasn't able to get close to that but I'm happy with the outcome!

You should be - they look great. I'm actually glad you posted your pics because it makes me feel better too! Like you said, they are definitely black and not "smoked" like the OEM, so they wouldn't have matched for my application and I would have been pissed. But in your instance, since you got 2, they work perfect!

I have used this dealer to order a ton of parts recently to repair my truck, so they give me pretty good prices. Basically, whatever I find on the websites of the Toyota dealers that have online parts departments (usually about 20-30% lower than MSRP), they match, and I avoid the shipping costs. Just recently, I got an $1100 headliner and $600 carpet for about $800 and $450, respectively. I see you're in Denver too, OP. Check out Stevinson Toyota East for parts if you ever need them - they've always treated me very well. It's not uncommon for them to throw in bolts or clips that I need just as a courtesy. Great parts department.

Another thing to keep in mind for anyone wanting OEM headlights - there is a "complete" headlight that is more than just the housing. They have 2 different part numbers. There is no difference in them besides that the complete one includes bulbs. If you're just replacing a functioning headlight or doing a repair, you can save yourself about $50/headlight by getting the bare housing.

Great info and I'll definitely check them out. I'm in the Littleton area so I've been using Groove Toyota. Had a hiccup with them but they jumped on it immediately. Good guys and gals. That's also some good info that I didn't mention as the Depo's do not come with bulbs. Mine didn't at least. I'll probably make a trip to O'reillys to get all the bulbs I need.

Groove seems to be a well-run chain of dealerships. I'm currently working with one of their salesmen on a new F-150 (blasphemy, I know), and he's been awesome.

Back on topic - the lights look great, and you got an amazing price! Good job.

Thank you for this thread!! I have been scouring the 2nd gen marketplace for headlights and now have the info to pull the trigger on some new lights. Love the thoroughness of your write up. Great job and the truck looks awesome!

Looks great. Had mine replaced about a year ago due to the DRL's melting the housing. If I ever need to replace again, these look like the ones.

    How are they holding up?

Discovered this thread using the search…pulling the trigger if I can get my question above answered.…heck, who am I kidding? I'm tired on yellow headlights, I'll prob pull the trigger regardless lol

Edit: your truck looks good BTW, Thx for sharing.

I have read that many of these posts talk of silicone as a sealant and while it's not bad, superior and longer lasting results will be achieved with a polyurethane sealant such as Sika-flex 1a or Tremco Dymonic there are also other brands out there too. 3m also has good quality sealant. HD and Lowes will have these in the Masonry department and if you can't find them there a marine parts store will also have the stuff. It's about the same price as good quality silicone. The Polys bond is stronger and more flexible, silicone is more uv resistant than polyurethane but based on direct exposure to sunlight, in sealing these lights all areas to be sealed are not directly exposed to direct sunlight. The secret to using poly, tool the joint with soapy water dixie cup with dish soap 25% and water 75%. Clean unwanted and uncured poly with a solvent like acetone.

So.... I'm reading this for the same reason all of you are. But I have to ask before I buy the Depo lights

If your still going through all the trouble of sealing these lights... Does it really matter what aftermarket assembly's you buy?

Any updates on how the seal has held up? I've got these in my cart on Amazon and am ready to pull the trigger...

I sealed mine with grey RTV (bought at Napa) and I have had no issues. Been in my truck since April

    Hi All,

Blast from the past! I just wanted to provide a quick update/review of these headlights after having them 3 years.

    Pictures!

    The pictures tell it how it is, though the pealing/flaking you see is much less prominent in person. It's the exterior of the light, not internal, which is due to it being parked outside 24/7 here in Colorado. I bet if it'd been garaged and out of the UVs they wouldn't look like this. All that said, I couldn't be happier with these lights;

    1. Never experienced fogging at any time (seal 'em up!)
    2. No hazing after 3yrs
    3. No rattling/looseness after 3yrs of normal driving/wheeling
    4. IMHO, I think they're brighter than the OEMs, but that could be due to how hazed over my OEMs had become.

    I highly recommend them.

I know this old thread, did you have to seal the oem headlights with silicone?
