Non tech savvy guy needs some help, please....

    Last week I was with my bro in law, he has 2017 Ford Explorer.
    He has an iPhone, which he tethered to his radio, and his radio screen mirrored his iPhone screen.
    He told me I should be able to do the same thing with my 2016 Tacoma and my Samsung Note8. When I plug it in to the USB port, the the usb icon on my radio screen is grayed out.

    So, will my Tacoma mirror my Note8?
    How do I hook it up?
    Help a grandpa out, please.
