2011 4 cyl 4x4 AC BASE!!! was upset when i realized i couldnt afford the trd OR but after driving the base around for a little while i have come to realize its not that bad.. the 4 cyl seems powerful enough so far, dont mind the uncolor matched flares or bumper, not a fan of the rims but i think im just gona get some beast tires on them to make it not so bad lol

I recently bought a Non-TRD SR5 double cab. The main thing I wanted was a LSD for boat ramps. Because of a lack of research on my part, I learned of the ALSD after the fact.

So far there's been no problem with ramps but my truck will face the acid test next week in the White River Refuge with a 45 degree ramp and tires coated with gumbo mud. If the truck can pull it off, I'll be in heaven. If not, I'll probably be looking to add a locker and kickin' myself in the butt for not buying a TRD.

 fuck TRD. In Canada the Trd is 4 grand more than the sr5 at least for 2009 it was. In Canada the 2009 sr5 had same suspension as the 2009 trd. As for lockers I can buy those after market if I need them. Oh and after I put on lockers and a lift on my sr5 it will be better than a trd all I will need is for sockmonkey to make me a Trd off road sticker and I'm set. I also think the sr5 seats are more comfortable and usable since they don't squish the body as much oh and harder to have sex in the trd seats because of the side supports

No TRD for me... I wanted the Off Road package but it would have put me above budget, and those pesky kids of mine like to eat EVERY DAY!... Geeeeeez....

For what I wanted a truck for, the TRD off road was perfect.

I would have preferred a TRD Sport but alas my budget could not.

That said, there were three things I wanted - a bed, four wheel drive, and a stick shift. The 1GR was just a perk. I figured since I *never* go wheeling the ALSD that's even on the base model would handle anything I throw at it.

The first time I used my auto LSD was at my local ramp. The truck was still brand new, w/out tags. I have a manual, and as soon as I dropped my boat, I let off the clutch to pull off the ramp and I just started sliding downward torwards the water, the stock dunlops spinning on the slippery ramp. I am thinking at this point my new truck is going into the water. After a couple of attempts to move forward, and only sliding backwards, and now on the water's edge, I remembered about the auto LSD button, and when I used it, I let off the clutch and my truck "crawled" off the ramp like a truck in 4 wheel low. No tire spin at all, just up and off the ramp. I was impressed, and it felt better then any manual LSD I have ever had traction wise. I know its not 4x4, but I tell you it did feel like it in this situation. Its a wierd feeling with the computer controlling the brakes and throttle but it works. Those on this forum who bash the system have either never tried it or do not know how to use it, but I bet a test between the manual LSD of the past and the new auto LSD would be interesting. I think the new would win, otherwise Toyota would not have changed it...

I got the trd sport DCSB with 4x4 and towing package, i like the pointless hood scoop and i figured i would later lift and make all the off road adjustments i want so there was no point of the off road package for me. plus i bought it used and it was in much better shape than the others and had subs, rims and tint already, and surprisingly had the lowest miles and lowest price, I couldn't have been happier with any other truck.

SR5 here. The TRD's didnt offer anything I couldnt eventually get aftermarket if I wanted them bad enough, and it saved me a bundle on purchase price.
