I'm getting an AC 2.7, so TRD wasn't even available. Had I gotten the V6, I wouldn't have paid the $5000 they charge to get an elocker.

I bought my 07 TRD/OR as it is an access cab long bed. The stickers were too awesome to pass up. Plus I can be a wanna be 4x4 poser with my Prerunner at the mall

TRD of course. No way I'm gonna get caught with the shame of not having a TRD sticker and baby blue shocks. If you don't have a TRD sticker then your dick is small. And I'll bang your girlfriend.

Uh TrD sport. Actually like the useless skewp. Umm guess I can keep my GF. Thanks for the compliment. Umm found plenty of non packaged tacos in NC. It's the manual that's rare. And since mine is black, I don't need to paint the chrome. (Which seems popular)

A slew of pricey stuff my wife hates me for.
All you need is a rear air locker and you can catch some air like those left coast tacos!

Traded the 2015 TRD Pro 6spd Supercharged on a PowerWagon and could not be happier. My 2011 Tacoma with the TX Baja package (Added by me) is still treating me great. My 1985 Toyota never skips a beat.
hello, i am new here but not new to toyotas by any means. I am currently on my 3rd 2nd gen Taco, its also my 2nd TRD package 2nd gen.

    2008 4x4 access cab 4cyl 5spd
2012 4x4 double cab v6 auto trd offroad
    2013 4x4 access cab v6 6spd trd offroad

this is all in my opinion and based off of my experiences.
the 4.0 1grfe is the only way to go, 2trfe is impressively stout but it works too hard for these heavy trucks and lacks in every category, its also barely even marginaly better in mpg (4x4 is all im considering, 2 wheelers are different story) the exception being a standard cab, both because the 4.0 is not an option and because the truck is smaller and lighter, but i pull trailer and a boat often and after a couple years with the 2.7 im in love with the 4.0

the offroad package is great but if you are buying a used truck and dont plan to wheel it much stock, sport models seem to be less beat on.

2013 and 2012 traction control is a load of horse (insert your own word)

i miss the pockets in the side of the bed on my 2013, i have no idea why they got rid of them but they were actually pretty handy at times.

the sticks are considerably worse on fuel, i drove 500 miles with a tow dolly on my 2012 averaging 23.5 mpg (scangauge/and fillup verified) and the same drive empty on my 2013 i got 19.8 mpg. the 2012 had 6500 miles on it and the 2013 had 4500 miles on it. but at the end of the day i still love having a manual tranny

the double cab is heavier in the back (both my 12 & 13 trucks had 3 leafs stock) and i could never live with the short bed.. its amazing how much i need the extra foot!

the automatic center console design was a downer compared to the manual, i missed my big cupholders and those little rubber insert deals were best as litter on the side of the road (joke mostly)

i miss the fold down seats in the back of my 2008 access cab the extra cab portion is much less usable for things and barely any better for passengers with the fold up seats and headrests that are in my 2013.

i blew the engine up from hard use in the 2008 @ 59,800 miles and replaced it myself (no warranty because of mud) many other broken things on the life of that truck.

i will stop bugging you guys on here but if there are comparisons between them that some people may not have i can give you some insight. and i can give you much better info on any of it as well.

    thanks for havin me :)

and i bought the trd because of the resale (if i ever want) and the lifetime powertrain warranty (cant add a locker and keep it) and of course there are the buttons. who doesnt love buttons! even if most of them are useless and toyota hold you pretty tight by the balls on what works how and when (stupid 4low locker, 100 w driving on the inverter, and turn switch 4x4)

as far as customizing, if i planned on going all out i would base model it but as a daily driver/ toy and having other dedicated toys to beat relentlessly i optioned for the 125k mile toyota bumper to bumper and minor mods.

i forgot to mention, the "sport" seats are so much better! other then the fact my dog loved the fold flat on my old sr5 truck.. you win some you lose some.

unless your jethro, then you lose more than you win and we all see where that goes (complex)

I think people are just proud of their trucks they customized themselves. Who knows. I agree the mega graphics on vehicles is a bit much for me but I do have TRD on mine so I can't say too much. I think it would be cool to buy a base and do myself but I'm a noob. No idea where to begin beefing it up.

Main selling point on TRD for me was the seats, and then the locker. The TRD seats are really comfortable.

Ended up going cheap with just the SR5, but wanted the TRD for 1. Seats, 2. Sport hood, 3. Rims ... in that order.

But I can live without 1 and 2, and will likely go aftermarket with black rims anyhow.

My Sport hood with fancy schmancy hood scoop has got to be good for at least 10 extra horsepower. Just sayin'...
