I had no trouble finding a 'Non-TRD'... It's called an SR5, Base or any of the 5 lug models.

I didn't have a choice when I got mine. I really wanted a 4x4 but my dad doesnt like having more parts to worry about breaking, and i didnt have an extra $2,000. My dad told me he found a used Tacoma in San Antonio that was in our price range. We drove up one day after school and we got there it ended up being a TRD Off Road, which made me happy. Not having 4x4, the rear locker really does help and has gotten me out of sticky situations. I love my truck.

    4x4 OFF-ROAD... that is all I need...
I don't understand the hate between TRD Sport vs TRD Off-Road owners... I ride my Gixxer daily and always throw a peace sign to all motorcycle riders I see next to me or coming the opposite way (even to the "tough guys" on HD's)... and they all usually wave or throw a peace sign too... BUT I never see the same thing when I roll up next to a TRD Sport owner when I'm in my 4x4 cage... I throw up a peace sign or nod my head and almost all drive off like I'm crazy... only TRD Off-Road owners are cool when I throw props... :burnrubber:

Drive out to Ventura & I will throw the peace sign in my TRD Sport...I'm de-bagged so the scoop is the only thing that says TRD Sport about it. For what its worth, I take the TRD sticker off on day one...whether its sport or off road...I just don't like its looks.

2007 Dbl cab TRD Off-road. I just stopped by on a whim because they'd had it out there for so long without selling it. When I saw the price, I understood. So, I beat the crap out of them for the price and then pinched them with a trade-in after negotiating the best deal. Yes, they hate me now... I got it in '08 as a long-term hold over.

Two weeks later, before I even got the temp tags off, I got rear-ended twice in the same work week. Thank God for the class III receiver hitch.

I have the same problem, but I'm finding its with all Tacoma owners that I come accross. But it may just be where I live. The only time I see people give peace signs or wave to others is those on motorcycles or Jeep Wranglers (have had a waves when I drive my Dad's Wrangler). Whats the deal?

What about those new TX packages or whatever they are called? I saw my first one today at a parking lot, still had the new tag from our local dealer. The wheels are pretty sweet, but it was a Prerunner, which seems kind of funny. I'm not hating on Prerunners, because I love mine, but it seemed odd to offer a TX package in 2wd.

You need to chose your truck configuration based on YOUR needs and conditions , what others think or need is completely irrelevant .

Not really, In many places in the country people like the look and height of the 4WD but don't need an actual 4WD. Because it doesn't snow and they don't go off roading as a hobby. Pre Runner are huge sellers. I'd by another in a heartbeat..even without the TRD package.

Some stuff. Not a lot, just some.
The TX package is nothing but "bling".
