    Hello all!!

I am from Central Ohio, and am in the hunt for a Tacoma. I know I want an access cab model - for the longer bed - but do not know whether I should get an SR, or an TRD Off Road.

My plans for the truck are to be my day-to-day driver, as well as a camping/get away truck on vacation. I ride mountain bikes, and would be using it to get to trails and campsites mostly in the midwest, New England, and Canada...eventually gaining access to places on fire/logging roads. I also plan on doing a lot of this in the winter. I would be possibly towing a small to mid sized teardrop camper when my wife goes along (I sleep in a tent or on the ground on my own).

So, I am waffling between a regular 4x4 SR, or the TRD Off Road. I never plan on big time off roading - like rock crawling in Moab or mud racing etc....I just need somethgin that can handle rough roads, and possibly deep snow. Is the TRD Off Road overkill for what I want/need? I feel like if I get the SR, and want to go bigger, I can just upgrade that in the future.

I also don't need the interior to be like a home theater, so I am not looking for that on the inside either. If I had my way, it would have AC, a plug for my phone for music, and that is it...

thanks in advance for any advice!!

If you go SR you should save a lot of money. I went with a SR and it had everything I needed plus I had extra money for upgrades. The SR is not stripped down. It just doesn't have all the stuff you don't need anyway. My only regret was not getting cruise. These guys buy the TRDs and then take everything off so why pay for it. I live in NE Ohio but bought my Tacoma in Columbus at Toyota West. I also got the appearance upgrade package with painted bumpers and rear slider and jump seats for $500 more than base price. Good luck.

thanks for the quick reply!! I spent a lot of time looking at the TRD, and kept thinking that it might be more than I need at first. And I don't want to pay north of $40,000 for a truck. Maybe I am old school, but that seems to be too much for something that is going to get chunked up. Did Toyota West have a good selection of SR's? I live in Dublin - a bike ride from Tansky - but I would have no problem going to Toyota West. Tansky had NO Tacoma's on the lot as of 2 months ago, new or used

...does it handle well in your snow up there?

I have a DCSB TRD Sport and it does everything I need. I'm actually looking to sell it here soon, so if you would like to discuss it in a Private Message...we can.

Edit: I should have said that I am about 1.5 hours east of you.
